P. Childers presiding. Mrs. RutU Peterson, Can cer Society Field Representa FOR SAFETY'S SAKI / WWfN MAN PS A# I ' IN WA10R J oonrwuCH pLuooep IN APPLIANCES One Way "Hey. you. Pull over!" shouted the traffic cop, . ? The lady driver complied^, and the next day the judgi fined her ?25.00. "She went home in great anxiety lest her husband, who always ex- , amined her check book should learn of the incident. Then inspiration struck, and she marked the check stub, "One pull over. $25.00." tive from Greenville, N. C. was a guest at the meeting in an advisory capacity. President Chiiders led in discussion on recent county activities of the County Unit; including plans for the annual Cancer Crusade to be con ducted in April, services of fered through Education Chairman Mrs. Grady Snyder, and services rendered through the Society to county cancer patient. Citizens are reminded that individual aid is given to can cer patients according to the policy set forth by the Ameri can Cancer Society. Aid is available for prescription drugs, dressings, transporta tion for treatment. ?id assis tance for treatments such as radium. Funds are not avail able for doctor bills or hos pital bills due to limitedT funds. Although forty percent of funds raised in the annual county cancer crusade are re turned quarterly to the coun ty, the amount is not suf ficient to cover the number of requests for the hospital and doctors bills. However the society is <ble to render aid as lifted in the previous paragraph. During the past year which ended in October, an amount Of seven hundred forty-five dollars returned to the county was used to aid sixteen patients during the one year period. Assistance given to patients depends on funds available, the number of applications received from -all-around the county, and the type of service requested. Announcement was made of the Mid-Winter Training Conference to be held on February twelveth In Raleigh. The next- quarterly meet ing of the local unit is set for Monday evening March tenth.
