In obser vance of Boy Scout Week, uniformed scouts of Troop 588 in Youngsville attended morning worship service Sun day at the Harris Chapel Church. On Saturday Troop Scout master N. A. Brown and As sistant Scoutmaster W. R. Evans, assisted by J. T. Moss, took the Boy Scouts to Ral eigh for the Dequoyah Dis trict annual Exposition held at the North Hills Mall. The local troop is now a part of the Swquoyah District but did not participate in the exposition except as specta tors. Eight County Men Earn NCSU Honors Raleigh - Eight men from Franklin County have been cited by Chancellor John T. Caldwell for academic excel lence at North Carolina State University. . The eight were among 1,849 NCSU students who were named to the Dean's List for scoring academic averages of "B" or better during the fall semester. One of the Franklin stu dents. Randy G. Bowers, also made the Dean's List both semesters last year. A junior recreation and parks administration major. Bowers is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest E. Bowers of Rt. 3, Louisburg Many of the NCSU stu dents making the Dean's List are married, as is Dwight H. Perdue, a senior recreation and parks administration stu dent from Louisburg. He is the son of William A. and Beatrice Bur rell of Route 3, Louisbrg and attended Riverside High School. Burrefk_entered the army January 24, 1968 and com pleted the basic training at Fort Bragg, N. C. in March, 1968. He left White Sands Missile Range. N. M. for a tour of duty as truck driver overseas. PO Service Film Viewed By Lions Youngsville - A film on Post Office Service was pre sented for the program at the Lion's Club meeting held Monday night of this week at the Community House. The film emphasized the impor tance of using Zip Codes and e xplained foreign mailing. The informative program was made available to the Lions through local Postmaster Davis Hill. < ' Lion president Claude Ed wards presided at the meeting and the film was shown by Lion R. G. Cheatham. Mr. Mark Hayes spent sev eral days the latter part of the .week and until Tuesday in Raleigh with his mother. Mrs. R. L. Hayes and several sis ters. A hearty welcome is ex tended to Mr. and Mrs. Ger ald Roberson and two child ren who moved into the com munity Monday.
