Lye, Smith Speak Vows Miss Rexie Jane Smith and Mr. Stephen Walter Lye were united in marriage Saturday, March 29th, at two o'clock at Flat Rock Baptist Church. The vows were spoken before a background of fern and lighted tapers. The Rev. Floyd Benfield, pastor, was the officiating minister. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred D. Smith of Route 4, Louisburg. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. James G. Lye of Route 3, Wake Forest. The bride, given in marri age by her father, was attired in a floor length gown of satin peau de soie featuring an empire waist, long, lace covered sleeves, a lace cover ed bodice and a short train. She carried a lace covered prayer book topped with a I white orchid and spray of white roses. Miss Peggy Smith, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Miss Brenda Smith, also a sister of the bride, was junior bridesmaid. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Gray Smith of Ra leigh, sister of the bride groom; Miss Vickie Wheeler of Youngsville; Miss LaRue Paschal! of Fayetteville and Miss Sarah McLeod of Carth age. they wore floor length gowns of blue Serrano linen featuring an empire waist and accented with matching lace. Each carried a lace-covered prayer book marked with a red rose, and red ribbon streamers. Their headpieces were made of bows and tulle which matched the dresses. Mr. James G. Lye was his son's best man. Ushers were Mr. Danny Smith, brother of the bride; Mr. Gordon Lye and Mr. Kenneth Lye, broth ers of the groom, and Robert Ulrich of Glen Burnie, Mary land. Mrs. Page Haynes was or ganist. Mrs. Floyd Benfield, soloist, sang "Entreat Me Not to Leave Thee" and "The Wedding Prayer". The bride's mother chose for her daughter's wedding an ensemble of pink bonded knit with matching accessories. Her corsage was a white cymbidium orchid. The mother of the groom wore an aqua blue knit suit with matching accessories, and a white cymbidium orchid. For a wedding trip to wes tern North Carolina the bride changed to an ensemble of blue linen. Her accessories were black patent. The orchid was lifted from her prayer book. Mrs. Lye is a graduate of Youngsville High School and East Carolina University, where she was a member of Kappa Delt* .Pi honor society in education. Mr. Lye is also a graduate of Youngsville High School and is a graduate of North Carolina State Univer sity where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi and Eta Kappa Nu honorary fraternities. RECEPTION A reception, hosted by the parents of the bride, was held in the educational building of the church following the cere mony. The bride's table was cen tered with a lovely arrange ment in green and white, flanked by lighted tapers. The three tiered wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom, was placed at one end of the bale and the crystal punch bowl at the other. A portrait of the bride and her wedding bouquet were used on the table with the register, which was presided over by Miss CArol Baugh man, cousin of the bride. Miss Sandra Wheeler poured punch, and Miss Karen Spruill served the cake after the bride and groom had cut the first slice. Also assisting in serving were Mesdames Ho-' ward Mangum, Riddic Wheel er, E. L. Johnson, Epp Cat lett, Haywood Wiggins and Miss Jenny Vee Wiggins. After Rehearsal Party Mr. and Mrs. James G. Lye and Mrs. William Paschall en tertained the wedding party antK out-of-town guests after the rehearsal Friday night in the Paschall home. Guests were greeted by Miss LaRue Paschall who directed guests into the din ing room where Mrs. Alfred D. Smith, mother of the bride, poured punch. Other refreshments included cookies, mints, and salted nuts. Eastern Star Installs Officers On Saturday night march 29, 1969, Wakefield ? Zebu Ion Chapter No. 133 order Of the Eastern Star in a very beautiful ceremony installed its officers for 1969 - 1970. A very lovely ceremony was performed in the Chapter Room where friends and rela tives witnessed the event, which was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Mary G. Bunn, past Matron, was the installing of ficer for the evening.
