where they attended a man
agement development insti
tute. according to Gerald S.
White, manager of the asso
ciation.
"The institute was con
ducted to keep Land Bank
association personnel abreast
of the latest developments
and techniques in modern
management." Mr. White
said.
The institute was con
ducted by The Federal Land
Bank of Columbia. S. C. in
cooperation with Gus W.
Campbell Associates of New
York, a management consul
tant firm. Instructors were
Gus W. Campbell: Frank L.
Barton, vice president and
secretary; W. M. Harding, vice
president; James E. Wilson,
vice president.
"The Federal Land Bank
of Columbia makes long-term
agricultural loans through far
mer-owned Federal Land
Bank associations serving
every county in the two Caro
linas. Georgia and Florida,"
Mr. White said. "The Bank
has loans outstanding to our
40,000 farmers, growers and
ranchers in the amount of
over $574 million through
the 46 Land Bank asso
ciations in the four-state dis
trict."
The Federal Land Bank
Association of Henderson ser
ves the long-term credit needs
of 617 farmers, growers and
ranchers in Franklin, Vance,
Warren, Granville, Person,
Durham, and Orange Coun
ties with more than
$6,000,000 in long-term
credit.

State-wide Selective Service Conference luncheon. Spec. Brewer and Nlaj. Lloyd J. Skidmore.
Jr., of Raleigh were named top winners in the Freedoms Foundation Armed Forces letter
awards program earlier this year. Spec. Brewer is a member of Company E, 105th Engineer
Battalion, NCARNG, in Kings Mountain and Maj. Skidmore is a member of Selective Service
Section, Headquarters Headquarters Detachment, NCARNG, in Raleigh.

recalled for the correction of
a potential defect in the steer
ing system. Letters were sent
to an estimated 5,000 to
8,000 owners. Of these,
1,350 are in the United
