Receives Honor Bryant Foster, pictured above, has been announced as the winner of the 1969 De Kalb Agricultural Accom plishment Award, given to an outstanding senior in Voca tional Agriculture Depart ments. He was chosen to re ceive this award on the basis of scholarship, leadership, and his supervised farming program. Bryant is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Foster of the Epsom Community. Bryant attends the Epsom High School and has been Vice-President of FFA, the Parliamentarian of FFA, 4-H Club President, and secretary of Sunday School. His Supervised Practice Program consists of registered beef animal, registered swine, soybeans, corn and tether grain crops. After high school Bryant plans to attend the A & T State University, Greensboro, majoring in Agricultural Edu cation. Heard This One? Benny: Hey, look at that bunch of cows! Dale: Not bunch, herd. Maria Bolick, a member of the Progressive Ten 4-H Club, of Louisburg received first place rating for her tap danc ing performance and a check for $7.50. Charlie McKnight, a member of Concord 4-H Club, rated second for singing and playing the piano and received a check for $5.00 and Jane Burrell, a member of Louisburg Green Grass 4-H Club, rated third for her piano selction and received a check for $2.50. Fourth place went to Star Cardwell from Moulton Ingleside 4-H Club and fifth place honors went to Ellendor Wright from Cethsemane 4-H Club and Mark Joyner, a member of Concord 4-H Club. Sandra Harris, a member of Justice 4-H Club, rated first place in the Senior Dress Division. She received a gift certificate from Leggett's De partment Store and material for a dress from Finch's Rem nant Shop. Mary Jo Denton of Wood 4-H Club, received second place rating, a gift certificate and material - from Finch's Remnant Shop. Linda Baldwin of Louisburg Green Grass 4-H Club, rated third, a gift certificate and material for a dress. Melodie Clodfelter of Moulton Ingleside 4-H Club, received first place rating in the Junior Dress Division. She was awarded a gift certificate from Leggett's Department Store and material for a dress. Myra Harris, a member of Justice 4-H Club received second place honors, a gift certificate and material for a dress. Ann Wheless of Justice 4-H Club received third place rating, a gift certificate and Certification Date Set Franklin county farmers will be expected to file a crop acreage certification at the ASCS Office in Louisburg again this year. May 3lst. is the final certification date for wheat and barley on farms participating in the 1969 Wheat and Feed Grain Pro grams. June 30th. will be the final date to certify the acre ages pf tobacco, cotton, corn, and grain sorghum. Certifica tions should be made at the ASCS County Office just as soon as all of the above crops have been planted. Producers participating in the 1969 Wheat Program' must sign a wheat acreage report by May 31, 1969 even if no wheat is planted for grain. Also, any producer participating in the 1969 Feed Grain Prpgram who has planted barley must file a certification by May 31st. Failure to timely certify will mean loss of payment. Farmers are also reminded that it is very important that they plant within allotments, bases, or permitted acreages, and maintain the required amount of diverted acreage for the farm. Payments will be drastically reduced if pro gram requirements are not met. C. material for a dress. Sixty-eight girls entered garments in the Dress Revue, 32 received blue ribbons, 25 received red ribbons and 11 received white ribbons. There were twenty-seven talent acts performed. Judges for the talent pro gram were: Mrs. Maude Thomas, Mr. Allen Shearin and Mrs. Ivor Daniel. Judging the garments were Mrs. Naomi Richmond, Mrs. Myrtfe Williams, Mrs. Hazel Timberlake and Mrs. Doris Cottrell, Mr. David Daniel, Director of College Relations of Louisburg College, served as master of ceremonies.
