Deaths MRS. WILLIAM CREWS Franklin ton - Mrs. William Qrewt, 77, of Richmond Va., died Tuesday. Graveside ser vices will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery here. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Olive Kincheloe of Rich mond; a brother, John A. Alley of Raleigh; one grand child. DURWOOD B. MAY Youngsville Durward B. May, 80, retired paint con tractor, died Tuesday. Surviving are a son, Geoge Nelson May of Raleigh; a brother, Nathan May " of Youngsville. Graveside services were held today at 11 a.m. at the Youngsville Cemetery by the Rev. James I. Wall. Inducted In Honor Society Kitty K. Arnold of Louis burg was among the 19 in ducted into the N. C. Gamma Chapter of Alpha Chi Na tional Scholastic Honor So ciety at the spring induction at Atlantic Christian College on May 8. Students selected for membership were juniors and seniors who have achieved at least a 3.2 cumulative grade average. Membership in the society is considered one of the highest academic honors on the college campus. Happiness is a state of mind-try to remember that when worried. Hayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Hayes of Route 3, Louisburg, N. C. The wedding was held May 2 in the home of Rev. Walker Pettijohn. Justice Mr. and Mrs. Tom Inscoe and daughter Linda from Petersburg, Va. were weekend guest of Mrs. Lena B. Wheless. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Wheless and boys from Dur ham had Sunday dinner with them. Miss Jane Johnson, a stu dent at N. C. State Univer sity, was home for the week end with her family, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Williams, Jonathan and Adair - Mrs. Wiiliami parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Price from Tarboro came Sunday for the day. Dr. and Mrs. Grady Wheeler and children, Hazel, Susan and Joe, from Graham were here for Mother's Day with Mrs. Z. V. Wheeler. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Perry from Raleigh spent Saturday night and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Perry. Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Perry, Mijjv colm and Amy from Fuqua/ came Sunday afternoon and stayed f6r the evening meal. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wicks and son Gary from Durham were guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Wicks Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Layton visited their daughter, Mrs. Maxine Tunstall, at Rex Hos pital in Raleigh Sunday. Mrs. Tunstall had major surgery Thursday and Mrs. Layton stayed with her from Wednes day until Friday night. Piano Recital (Frk. B.W.) Mrs. Bruce Honeycutt will present her piano pupils in a recital Fri day, May 16, at 7:45 p.m. in the Franklinton High School Auditorium. The public is in vited. There is no admission fee. Grades one through four at Franklinton High School will present a public music program Monday, May 19, at 7:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to the program which will be held in the high school audi torium. Book Club Has Spring Dinner The Current Literature Club held its last meeting of the spring with a dinner in the Benjamin Duke Cafeteria, Louisburg College, Tuesday evening at 6:30. Mrs. I. D. Moon, president, presided and extended a most cordial welcome to the mem bers and their guests. The head dining table was centered with an arrangement of assorted spring flowers. On the smaller tables vases of red and yellow roses were used. Miss Mary Mewill of Wil mington, Del., accompanied by Miss Sarah Foster at the piano, sang selections from the musical. "South Pacific." Mrs. Medders To Lead Hospital Guild The Franklin Memorial Hospital Guild met at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning in the Nurse's Home. The following new officers were installed for the coming two year term: President - Mrs. Doyle Medders; Vice President Mrs. Fred Lohmueller; Secre tary ? Mrs. B. L. Patterson; Treaaurer - Mr*. Thomas Wheless. The Hospital Guild is insti tuting a new service for the benefit of hospital patients. A Notion Cart with cigarettes, toilet articles, paperbacks and magazines is to be carried by the rooms on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Also, the Guild is in need Louisburg Mr. and Mrs. Warren H. Steele of Tonawanda, N. Y. were overnight guests Tues day night of Mr. and Mrs. Philip McKinne. Mr. Steele and Mr. McKinne were com bat buddies 23 years ago.
