Graduation exercises will be Tuesday night, June 3, at 8:00 p.m. Speakers will be Deborah Ann Roberson, Matthew Maurice Person, 111, and Michael Waddell Perry. The valedictory address will be delivered by Phyllis Elaine Kerley and the saluta tory speech by Larry Nathan Clemonts. Chief Marshal will be Cas sandra Lee Versteeg. The devotion for the meet ing was given by Mrs. Virginia Southerland. During the business ses sion. presided over by Mrs. Pat Myers, outgoing president of the club, two new mem bers. Mrs. Dorenda Stewart and Mrs. Dianne Collie, were introduced. The introduc tions were made by Mrs. Betty Bumette and Mrs. Mar garet Hill. Installation of officers for the coming year was made by Mrs. Betty Weathers. The new officers are: Chaplain - Pat Tharrington; Parliamentarian - Shirley Carter; Treasurer - Margaret Hill; Corresponding Secretary - Jean Uoyd; Re cording Secretary - Betty Bur nett; 2nd Vice President - Jackie Frazier; 1st Vice Presi dent - Dot Clay; President ? Barbara Alston. The "Woman of the Year" award was presented to Mrs. Margaret Hill by Mrs. Pat Myers, outgoing president of the club. The award is given for outstanding work in the club's activities over the past year. Mrs. Barbara Alston, Presi dent of the club for the next two years, is the wife of Wayne Alston. Mr. Alston is an employee of the telephone company here and Barbara is employed as a secretary at Louisburg Tire and Recap ping Company. The Franklin ton Lions Club met ' at the Community House Monday evening at seven o'clock. In the absence of Lion President Richard Golightly, Lion Ronnie Johnson pre sided. Plans were made for the annual broom sale, which will be held Monday and Tuesday evenings. May 26 and 27, from 6:30 p.m. until 9 o'clock. Lion James W. Payne is in charge of the broom sale. held in the home of Mrs. Dot Clay were Mrs. Ann Smith and Mrs. Kay Harris. The home was decorated with lovely spring flowers with place cards and candles to accent the color scheme. Magazines Needed The Guild of Franklin Memorial Hospital today issued a request for magazines and paperback, books for the magazine cart at the hospital.
