and Mrs. Clifton Waller

mony. Nuptial music was pre
sented by Miss Betty Boal of
Wake Forest, organist. The
wedding was directed by Mrs.
J. Carroll Trotter.
The bride, given in marri
age by her father, wore a
formal gown of white satin
with an alencon lace yoke
and sleeves and a high man
darin collar. Accenting the
neckline were appliques of
re-embroidered tiny seed
pearls. The A-line skirt featur
ed lace appliques re-embroid
ered with crystals and seed
pearls as were the three-quart
er bell lace sleeves. Her cha
pel-length train cascaded
from the lace back yoke with
a border of lace appliques
re-embroidered with crystals
and seed pearls. The finger tip
veil of silk illusion wis attach
ed to a crown of matching
lace petals embellished with
crystals and seed pearls and
pearl teardrops which dangled
from petals of seed pearls.
The veil and dress were de
signed and made by the
mother of the bride and Mrs.
J. Ennis Davis, aunt of the
bride. * *

The maid of honor was
Miss Donna Gail Rollins of
Raleigh, sister of the bride.
She wore a formal gown of
aqua chiffon featuring puffed
chiffon long sleeves, empire
waistline and an aqua lace
collar. Tiny covered matching
buttons fell from the lace
collar to the waistline. She
wore a matching headpiece of
aqua net tulle which fell from
a gathered valvet bow. She
carried a May basket of mix
ed flowers topped with a yel
low satin bow.
The bridesmaids were Miss
Betty Ann Trotter, Miss
Emily Jo Molding, both of
Wake Forest; Miss Linda
Carol Hopkins of Elizabeth
City, Miss Gwendolyn Dean
Strickland of Raleigh; Miss
Stephanie Chase Standafer of
Charlotte, and Miss Janet
Susan Moore of Springfield,
Virginia. The bridesmaids'
dresses were like that of the
maid of honor and they car
ried May baskets also.
Honorary bridesmaids were
sisters of the bride's sorority.
Alpha Delta Pi. They were led
down the aisle by Miss Pame
la Hill Nelson of Durham. She
carried a nosegay of purple
violets. Mr. Clifton Waller Ro
berts, Jr. was his son's best
man. Ushers were John Wal
ter Anderson. Randolph A.
Harris, Ira Brantly Ntwton,
William L. Hamilton, all of
Raleigh; Robert Bruce Dodd

The bride attends Bast

Nursing where she is a mem
ber of Alpha Delta Pi and the
Student Nurses Association.
The groom also attends East

ing the wedding trip the
couple will be at home at 311

Immediately following the
ceremony a reception was
given in the Bethea Room on
the Seminary Campus by Mr.
and Mrs. Linwood Kimmon
Stephenson. Guests were
greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Cecyl
Stephenson and directed to
the receiving line composed
of the bridal couple and
members of the wedding par
ty. Goodbyes were said by
Mr. and Mrs. Robert W.
Thomas of Raleigh.
' The refresjftnent table was
covered with a white satin
cloth with an overlay of lace.
At the four corners a yellow
satin bow was tied with
streamers to the floor. The
centerpiece was a two-tiered
floral arrangement of white
daisies, mums and rose buds,
with yellow ribbon. White
and yellow burning tapers
were used throughout.
Presiding at the punch
bowl was Mrs. J. Knnis Davis
and Mrs. Edwin Davis. The
three-tiered wedding cake
decorated with yellow rose
buds and topped with a bride
and groom was served by Mrs.
Herbert Hall and Mrs. W. W.
Holding. III. Of special in
terest was the carriage and
horses with a bride and
groom being ushered in by
miniature cupids. White
columns separated each tier.

to Mr. Freddie Lee Wood of
Louisburg. was solemnized
Sunday. June 1st. at four
o'clock in the afternoon at
the Rolesville Baptist Church.
Officiating at the double-ring
ceremony was The Rev. C.
Earl Haynes. pastor.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ken
neth Brown of Rolesville and
the groom is the son of Mrs.
Ennis Let Wood of Louisburg
and the late Mr. Wood
A program of nuptial
music was rendered by or^

ist Mrs. Ben Bartlette. who
sang. "Hawaiian Wedding
Song." "Whither Thou
Goest." "The Lord's Prayer"
and "The Wedding Prayer."
Mrs H. E. Perry directed the
wedding.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a full
length formal bridal gown of
peau de soie. The empire
styled gown featured a boat
neckline which wasappliqued
with alencon lace and re-em
broidered with seed pearls
and iridescent beads. Placed
about on the skirt and sleeves
which ended in calla points
over the wrists were also ap
pliqued lace and seed pearls.
Her shoulder-length veil of
French illusion fell from a
headpiece of lace which was
adorned with flowerettes of
seed pearls and iridescent
beads. Her bridal bouquet
was a white orchid surround
ed by Baby's Breath, feather
ed carnations and satin
streamers.
The Matron of Honor was
Mrs. Tommy Murray of
Youngsvllle. She wore a floor
-length empire-styled gown of
yellow chiffon over taffeta
featuring a satin band and
bow placed at the empire line
with the skirt falling full In
back. Her headpiece was of
yellow net falling from a satin
bow and she carried five long
?stemmed yellow roses.
The bridesmaids were:
Miss Kaye Perry of Rolesville,
Miss Charlie Ann Merritt and
Miss Bonnie Brown, cousins
of the bride of Rolesville;
Mrs. Larry Criminger, Mrs.
Linwood Perry, cousin of the
bride, and Mrs. Joe Mizelt, all
of Raleigh. Bridesmaids all
wore dressed styled like that
of the Matron of Honor ex
cept in green with like head
pieces and each carried three
long-stemmed yellow roses.

and Miss Melain Merritt,
cousin of the bride, of Ral
eigh. They also wore dresses
like the bridesmaids and car
ried baskets of flower petals.

linen suit with matching ac
cessories for traveling.
After a wedding trip, the
couple will be at home in the
Brown Subdivision in Roles
ville.
The' bride is a graduate of
Rolesville High School, where
she was a member of the Beta
Club and Peace Junior Col
lege where she received the
Associate of Science Degree.
She is now with the Nation
wide Insurance Company in
Raleigh.
The bridegroom is a gradu
ate of Edward Best High
School and has served four
years in the United States Air
Force. He is now with C. K.
Brown. General Contractor,
in Rolesville.
Cake Cut ting
On Saturday night, May
31st. following the rehearsal,
members of the Brown-Wood
wedding party were enter
tained by the bride's parents
at ^ Cake Cutting in the
Fellowship Hall of the
church. Others attending in
cluded their husbands and
wives.
The Fellowship Hall was
decorated in a bridal motif
using white candles, on the
piano and mantle along with
magnolia leaves and an open
bible on the mantle.
The table was covered in a
white lace cloth and on it was
a silver epergne filled with
vyhite and yellow flowers
flanked by burning white
tapers in silver pyramid can
delabra entwined with ivy.
The three-tiered wedding
cake was topped With the
miniature bride and groom.
After the bridal couple-elect
had cut the traditional first
slice, the cake was served to
the guests by Mrs. Mary Bett
Merritt and Mrs. Klbertia
Brown, aunts of the bride.
Lime punch was served from
a footed silver bowl by Mrs.
L. P. Micks, aunt of the bride.
Other refreshments served
were ham biscuits, cheese
swirls, nuts and mints.
