Edwards, Norwood Wed Sunday The marriage of Miss Linda Faye Norwood to Mr. Henry Frederick Edwards was solemnized Sunday at four o'clock in the Warrenton Bap tist Church. The Rev. Em manuel Pegram, brother-in law of the bride, and the Rev. Elwin Melton, pastor of the bride, officiated at the double-ring ceremo ny . A program of nuptial music was rendered by Mrs. Monroe Gardner, organist, and Mr. Robert M. Davis, soloist, both of Warrenton. Mr. Davis sang "O Perfect Love" and "Entreat Me Not To Leave Thee". The congre gation prayed in unison "The Lord's Prayer" after which the "Wedding Prayer" wa% sung. The chancel of the church bore decorations of gladioli, mums, ferns, and white tap ers. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie L. Norwood of Warrenton. Par ents of the grooin are Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Edwards of Gold Sand. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a for mal gown of white bridal peau de soie designed with an A-line skirt, featuring a jewel neckline and detachable train. The gown was covered in embroidered organ/a. Fram ing her face was a four-tiered veil of illusion attached to a crown of lace and pearls. She carried a white Bible centered ' with an orchid. The bride's dress was fas hioned and designed by Mrs. H. T. Edwards, mother of the_ groom. The bride wore a necklace of cultured pearls, a gift of the groom. Mrs. Emmanuel Pegram, sister of the bride, was mat ron of honor. She wore a full-length gown of orchid dotted-swiss with a nebru col lar, empire waistline and cuff ed organza sleeves. She wore a white garden hat and car ried a nosegay of yellow sum mer daisies. Bridesmaids were Miss Cindy Riley of Rocky Mount, Miss Betsy May of Louisburg. cousin of the groom. Miss Nancy Lyles and Miss Linda Shearin, both of Raleigh and Miss Kitty Norwood, sister of the bride. Their dresses were of lilac dotted-swiss with identical lines of the honor attendant. They also carried yellow summer daisies. Little Miss (jail Ayscue of Warrenton was flower giri. Her dress was of lilac dotted swiss and she carried a basket of daisies. She wore a bonnet of matching fabric. Master Scott Hunt of Louisburg was ring bearer. Mr. Ricky Edwards of Louisburg. brother of the groom, served as best man. Ushers were Jerry Lancaster of Raleigh, Bill Might. Ricky Rayner, and Tommy Speed, all of l/ouisburg. and Willie Norwood, Jr . brother of the bride. ? The bride's mother chose a mint green crepe dress with matching accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a pink brocade dress with matching accessories. Both mothers wore a white orchid corsage. Mrs. Ernest Ayscue. grandmother of the bride, wore a pink lace dress over satin with a corsage of white carnations. Following the reception the couple left for a wedding trip to Gatlingburg. Tenn. and Detroit, Michigan. For traveling the bride chose a brown and white jer sey dress. Matching acces sories completed her cos tume. She wore the orchid lifted from her Bible. The bride is a graduate of John Graham High School and Wayne Community Col lege. The bride has accepted a - position with Dr. Sam Massey of Warrenton. The bride groom is a graduate of Gold Sand High School and a senior at North Carolina State University. Reception Immediately following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Willie L. Norwood, parents of the bride, entertained at a recep tion in the church fellowship hall Guests were greeted and introduced to the receiving line by Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ayscue of Winston-Salem. Mrs. Roy Smith of Raleigh registered the guests Mrs. Carl Wynne, Mrs. Pay ton King, Mrs. Frank Ayscue, Mrs. Clinton Capps, Mrs. Tay lor Mustaln and Mrs. Edwards poured punch. Mrs. Clinton Neal served the three-tiered wedding cake Assisting in serving ham biscuiu. nuts, mints, cake MRS HENRY F EDWARDS squares and cheese straws were Mrs. Annie Mae Shcarin, Mrs. Bob Arrington and Mrs. Milton Ayscue. The table bore silver candelabra with burning pink tapers and an arrangement of white mums and glads. The bride's cake was placed on a beautifully appointed table. Goodbyes were said to Rev. and Mrs. Elwin Melton. Pre- Rehearsal Party Miss Linda Norwood and Mr. Freddie Edwards were honored at a pre-rehearsal dinner given by Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Capps. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Capps, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Mustain and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Arrington at the Clinton Capps' home of Areo la. Summer flowers and light ed tapers were used at points throughout the home. The menu consisted of baked ham, chicken salad, congealed fruit salad, butter beans. corn pudding and cof fee. hot rolls and chess pie. Fifty guests attended. After Rehearsal Party Miss Norwood and Mr. Ed wards were honored at an after rehearsal party at the church fellowship hall Friday evening with 75 attending. Mrs. Willis May, aunt of the groom, entertained for the couple. The fellowship hall was tastefully decorated through out. using the pink and white motif. The table bore an ar rangement of pink bridal flowers and burning tapers. Friends of the couple as sisted in serving decoratetf cake squares, nuts, mints and cheese biscuits. Mrs. I. M. Inscoe poured punch. Miss Norwood was attired in a pale pink crepe dress and wore a corsage of mums. Miscellaneous Shower Miss Norwood and Mr- Ed wards were honored Tuesday evening, June 10, at a miscel laneous shower at the Areola Community Clubhouse. Honoring the couple were Mesdames Harvey King, Carl Fleming, Elmer Harris. Clar ence Harris, George Hunter, Robert Gupton and Clarence Skillman. The building was tastefully decorated with magnolia and lighted tapers. Refreshments served were punch, raise squares, nuts, mints and cheese straw. Mrs. H. T. Ed wards, mother of the groom elect, presided at the punch bowl. Miss Norwood received many useful gifts. The bride-elect was also honored Saturday evening. May 31, with a floating show er by Mrs. Owen Tharrington and Mrs. J. T. Hunt at the Tharrington home in Gold Sand. On Friday evening. May 23, Miss Norwood was enter tained at a miscellaneous shower at the Inez Com munity Clubhouse. Honoring the couple was the Women's Missionary Society of the community. Louisburg Mrs. Earle Murphy, Sr. of North Main Street leaves to day for a. tour of the British Isles and continental Europe. Mr. and Mrs. C. Ray Pruette of Franklinton will be mem bers of Mrs. Murphy's tour group who go over on the Queen Elizabeth II a>id re turned by way of S.S. France on August 7. Inivi1 oil. The Fraj^n Times Ann Pearce Honored At Shower On August 3, 1969. Miss i Ann Pearce of Raleigh and Franklinton will become the bride of Mr. Jiin Lanier, trt celebration of this event. Miss Pearce was honored Thursday i evening with a kitchen show 1 er given by Mrs. Doris Sitter son at her home. 121 Wood land Drive. Cary. Upon arrival. Miss Pearn was presented with a daint\ j corsage of tulle and miniature kitchen items In addition, she was seated in a chair which by verture of its deco rations could have been for none other than the honoree And for those who had nut met the bridegoom, a lar^r picture frame laced in white carried childhood pictures of the bridal couple, some taken during their dating days and all surrounding the bride's en gagement picture. A mint green and white motif was carried out in the candlelighted dining area. A white bridal basket held an arrangement of daisies and lillies of the valley. Miss Seaman Honored Miss Cor* Ann Seaman, fiancee of Tony Fuller, was honored Saturday at a lunc heon at Longworth's Cafe teria in Cameron Village by Miss Phillis Seaman, aunt of the bride. Special guest included MrsJ A. H. Seaman, mother of the bride and Mrs. W. O. Fuller, Jr., mother of the groom. Guest plates were marked by miniature bride and groom place cards. Lingerie Shower A lingerie shower for Miss Cora Ann Seaman took place Sunday at the home of Mrs. T. M. Lancaster, and was given by Miss Alice Shearon and Miss Susan Lancaster. Wedding bells and pink roses were used in decora tions throughout the home. The bride-elect was given a corsage and gifts by the hos tesses and fifteen guests pre sent. Miscellaneous Shower Miss Beverly Shearon and Mrs. Roger Shearon honored Miss Cora Ann Seaman at a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mrs. R. B. Shearon in Centerville. Raleigh and the late Joshua Nunn Tharrington. Sr. of Franklin County. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a for mil gown of white re-em broidered Alencon lace and silk peau d'soie. The empire bodice of silk peau d'soie featured a scooped neckline and short peau sleeves trim med in re-embroidered Alen con lace. The A-line skirt was adorned in Alencon lace ap pliques encrusted in seed pearls. A chapel length train flowing from the empire line was adorned in lace appliques and encrusted in seed pearls. Mrs. George J. Hoffman of Beaufort. S. C.. sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Sandy Wicker, Mrs. Vance Parrish, Mrs. K. C. House, Jr., and Mrs. M. B. Kretwell of Tar boro, N. C. The honor atten dants wore formal gowns of apricot silk duponi, styled with a scalloped neckline and bell sleeves and an A-line skirt with empire trim of flower braid and velvet ribbon. Vickie Forrest and De Anna Dishman were flower girls. They wore formal gowns of green silk duponi which matched the velvet rib bon the bridesmaid's dresses. Billy Moss, who was thirteen-years-old Friday, the thirteenth, cele brated the occasion with a cookout given by his parent!, Mr and Mrs. James Thomas Moss at their home in Youngsville Friday evening. Guests in attendance were Robert Weatherford, Raney Edwards and Stanley Young of Youngsville and Mike Marshall of Wake Forest. Also present were Billy's brothers, Minnie and David. No black cats or Friday the thirteenth bad luck mar red the celebration which began in the afternoon when the boys gathered for some recreation before enjoying the cookout. The groom is a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy and is pre sently serving in the U. S. Army. Following the wedding trip to Virginia Beach, the couple will reside in Okinawa. Wedding Breakfast Preceding .the wedding a Honored At Party (Krk. B.W.) Miss Debbie Harris, who moved to Row land, N. C. Thursday, was honored at a party at the Franklinton Methodist Ed ucational Building Tuesday evening. Hostesses for the occasion were Misses Cindy Ball, Hope Beckham. Debbie Corn, Vicki Patterson, Angie Perkinson, Janice Whitaker and Richie Whitfield. The social room of the building was attractively de corated with big posters, re cord album covers, records and an assortment of colored lights. ~ The young people enjoyed dancing to music furnished by a record player. The hostesses presented a jade and ivory bracelet to Debbie as, a going away gift. Many or the guests brought individual gifts for the honor ed guest. Bride-elect Honored Miss Ann Elizabeth Wilder, bride-elect of June 21, was honored with a dessert hour at the home of Mrs. E. C. Pearce, Route 2, Franklinton Wednesday evening The spacious Pearce home was beautifully decorated for the occasion.- The hall and living room focal points fea tured arrangements of white spider mums and fern inter spersed with tiny white satin ribbon and burning tapers and roses. Guests were invited into the dining room where the banquet size table was cover ed with a white lace hand made cover over mist green. In the center was a large arrangement of white stock, fern, carnations and green mist candles in a silver eper gne Magnolia, wedding bells and giant candlebra with white burning tapers were used on the buffet and on the lovely antique mantel. Mrs. Carlyle Allen, auht of the honoree, served lime punch from a cut glass bowl. Hand molded bridal mints, nuts, cheese wafers and bridal cakes were served to the 35 guests. Special guests were Mes dames Carlyle Allen, Alene Wilder. Margaret Wilder, all aunts of Mias Wilder, Mias Mary Carlyle Allen, and Mrs Howard Wnder, mother of the bride -elect, all of Raleigh. St. Thomas' Episcopal Church was the setting Saturday for the marriage or Miss Jean Sim mons Perry to Walter Headen Williamson. The Rev. C. Lloyd Lipscomb officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Crud up Perry of Raleigh, formerly of Louisburg. Mr. Williamson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dabney Williamson of Richmond. B.W.) Mrs. A. S. ' Powell entertained her Canas ta Club Wednesday after noon. Her home was deocrat ed with daisies and fever few. Miss Nellie Whitfield re ceived high score prize for club while second high went to Mrs. Garland Sandling. Mrs. C. H. Weston was the recipient of guest high.
