For Puerto Rico Atlanta, Ga. - Little River Distributing Co., Louisburg, N. C., a distributor of Sinclair branded products, has quali fied for a Ave day trip for two to Puerto Rico in a com pany contest for outstanding 1968 sales. Announcement of the con test winners was made by R. G. Griffin, vice president, marketing of BP Oil Corpora tion which earlier this year bought the former Sinclair marketing assets along the East Coast. Little River Distributing Company will be represented on the trip by Miss M. C. Wrenn and Miss M. H. Free man, bookkeepers for the firm. Miss Wrenn and Miss Freeman, along with other winners and several company representatives, left Tuesday morning to be down to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Miss Freeman and Miss Wrenn, both of Louisburg, have been with the company for 12 and 9 years respective ly Taller Finding she tired quickly, a woman decided to weigh herself. As she stepped off the scales, her husband eyed her appraisingly and asked: "Well, what's the verdict? A little over-weight?" "Oh no," said his wife, "but according to that height table on the scales 1 should be about six inches taller!" Attend NCSA Convention Fayetteville Mr. ?nd Mrs. W. F. Shelton of Louisburg are attending the 22nd An nual Convention of the North Carolina Society of Accoun tants, being held in Fayette ville. June 22-25th. State President Jack E. Williams of Boone, stated the headquar ters for the Convention would be the Downtowner Motel Inn. Members of the Cape Fear Chapter are host to the 1969 Annual Convention group Carl C. Mims. Chairman. Registration began Sunday afternoon, June 22nd. at 3:00 p.m. at the Downtowner Motel. The offical program began Sunday night with a Special Vespers Service and Buffet Dinner. The Conven tion ends Wednesday. June 25th. Official Society meetings are scheduled for Monday morning and all day Tuesday. The President's Dinner and Ball were held Tuesday night with the new officers install ed by Stanley Stearman. Executive Director of the Na tional Society of Public Ac countants from Washington. D. C. Supervisor of Franklin County - Franklin ton City Schools, retires after 20 years of service. A native of Littleton. North Carolina. Mrs Davis attended Fayette ville State College and re eeived the A.B.. B.L.S. -arid M.A. degrees from North Carolina College at Durham. She did Tuther study at Columbia. Chicago and Yale Universities as well as East Carolina University. Mrs. Davis is the widow of the Reverend R. W. Davis, a former retired teacher, princi pal and pastor of the Warren ton Baptist Church. Warren ton. North Carolina, and the mother of two sons one of .whom is Mr. R. Wilbur Davis, a Long Island Terminal Mail dispatcher, United States Post Office, Long Island City, New York. who is a World War 11 | Veteran. Mr. Arnold B. Davis, the other son. is a stockhold er and professional video tape craftmen with Teletronics In ternational. Inc., New York City. While In the service of his country Arnold was chief Television Engineer. Armed Forces Radio and Television System. Viet Nam. For ser vices rendered while serving as advisor to the Vietnamese Government on Television he received a citation from the Vietnamese Government. Supervisor Davis has tra veled extensively throughout the United States. Cuba and Mexico. Her experience in cluded Elementary School classroom teacher, high school social studies teacher, full-time librarian and super visor of Franklin County -Franklinton City School Administrative Units 1949- 1969. She is a charter member and present treasurer of the Franklinton Branch of the National Association of MRS MABEL DAVIS College Women, immediate past secretary and member of the Hoard of Directors of North Carolina Mental Health Associaltion. She is also a life member of NEA and a mem ber of NCYA and its depart ment of Administrator and Supervisors; vice-chairman. Perhaps the most thrilling moment of Mrs. Davis' career came re cently when she received a citation from one of her former first grade pupils. Mr. L. M. Goode, Principal of Lyon Park School, Durham, North Carolina. Through the years Mrs. Davis has worked to promote good relationships between the school and community and to improve instruction with the schools which she supervised. Her many sugges tions and contributions in this area will long be remem bered and revered. Certainly 4-H'ers Attend Congress Two outstanding 4-H'eri from Franklin County will join some 200 other boys and girls at the 23rd Annual 4-H Electric Congress in Char lotte. July 7-9. The delegates are James Taylor Boone. Route 4, Louisburg and 'Arthur Collie, Route 4, Louisburg. Mr. L. D. Baldwin. Agri cultural Extension Agent, said the delegates were select ed because of Tfieir achieve ment in the 4-H electric pro ject. During the three-day con ference. the delegates will lis ten to project reports and view electric demonstrations. The highlight of the congress is the selection of a state winner and eight territorial winners in the 4-H electric project. The 4-H Electric Congress is sponsored by Carolina Pow er and Light Company, Nan tahala Power and Light Com pany, and Virginia Electric and Power Company. teachers, students and all others who were fortunate to have know and worked with Mrs. Davis wish for her good health, happiness and God's speed in all the new chal lenges that will be hers in retirement as she finds the time to participate in and enjoy some of the things she has long hoped for. Among the many gifts and citations received from var ious groups were a jewelry case and service plaque pre sented by the School Masters Club of Franklin County.
