Flat Rock, Scene Of Avett-Roberts Wedding Miss Connie Paulette Roberts and Mr. James Ira Avett, III were united In marriage, Saturday at 4 p.m., in the Flat Rock Baptist Church. The Rev. Clegg Avett, uncle of the groom, and the Rev.^Floyd Benfield, pastor of thi bride, officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Ro berts, Jr. of Youngsvilte. The parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. James Avptt, Jr. of Norwood, North Carolina. The vows were said in a candlelight ceremony before an altar of palms trees, spiral candelabras and baskets of white glads, mums, and pom pons. A program of nuptial music was rendered by organ ist, Mrs. Clegg Avett of Ruth erford College. Soloist. Mrs. Charles Pearce of Franklin, Virginia, sang "Whither Thou Goest", "Sweetest Story F.ver Told", and "The Wedding Prayer". The bride, given in marri age by her father, wore a formal gown of imported silk organza over tafetta and re -embroidered Alencon lace. The empire bodice featured a scalloped neckline and short lace sleeves adorned in clus ters of seed pearls. The em pire line was adorned with a row of Alencon lace. The A-line skirt was entirely of imported silk organza over taffeta. The bride's chapel train attached at the should ers under a row of Alencon lace. The bride's bouffant veil of white illusion was attached to petals of imported silk organza trimmed in seed pearls at\d Alencon lace.' Miss Debbie Roberts was her sister's maid of honor. She wore a floor length dress of yellow whipped cream which featured an empire waistline accented by lace and ribbon. She wore a yel low garden hat trimmed in daisies and carried a cascade bouquet of marguerite daisies with green ribbon streamers. Bridesmaids were Miss Donna Dilday of Belhaven, North Carolina, Mrs. Benny Gay of Zebulon. Miss Jenny MRS JAMES IRA AVETT, III Wiggins of Louisburg, and ! Miss Sandra Hill of Youngs ville. Miss; Ellen Lee of Ral eigh, niece of the groom, was junior bridesmaid. They wore dresses identical to the honor attendant. Miss Lou Ann Cash of Raleigh was flower girl. Her dress was identical to the other attendants and she car ried a white basket of daisies. Ring bearer was Tommy Cash of Raleigh, cousin of the bride. Mr. James Avett, Jr., fat her of the groom, served as best man. The ushers were Mr. Jimmy Lee of Raleigh and Dr. William Bazemore of Chapel Hill, brothers-in-law of the groom, Mr. Jerry Ro berts of Youngsville, brother of the bride, Mr. Johnny Gib son of Boone. North Caro lina, Mr. Jimmy Pate of Ro land. North Carolina, and Mr. Chester Lowder of Norwood, North Carolina. Junior usher, was Anthony Cash of Wake Foreat, cousin of the bride. For her daughter's wed ding, Mrs. Roberts chose a mint green, sleeveless dress with matching lace coat and accessories. She wore a white orchid corsage. The groom's mother wore a two piece pink dress with matching accessories and a white orchid corsage The bride is a graduate of Youngsville High School. She is presently a student at Rex Hospital School of Nursing in Raleigh The groom is a graduate of South Stanly High School in Norwood, North Carolina, and is a senior at North Caro lina State University. After a wedding trip to Williamsburg, Virginia, the couple will reside in Raleigh, North Carolina. Reception Immediately following the wedding the bride's parents entertained at a reception in the fellowship room of the church. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cash, aunt and uncle of the bride, welcomed the guests and introduced them to the receiving line composed of the bridal'couple, their par ents and honor attendants. Mrs. Bill Bazemore, sister of the groom, served the cake after the bride and groom had cut the first slice. Miss York Kiker invited the guest to the refreshment table where a four tiered wedding cake, rib bon sandwiches, ham biscuits and mints were served. Punch was poured by Mrs. Jimmie Lee, sister of the groom. The serving table was covered with a nylon lace tablecloth over antique satin. The ar rangement in the center was a five branch silver candelabra with an epergne of yellow daisies, white pompons and yellow pompons. The corners of the table were caught up with yellow and white satin ribbon with a cluster of bells. The table also held clusters of lilies of the valley. After Rehearsal Party Mr. and Mrs. Stephen ,W ig gins, and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Roberta entertained the hon ored couple, attendants and guests at a party in the Com munity House in Youngsville Friday evening. A yellow and white color scheme was used in decorating. Refreshments included pineapple sherbert punch, bridal cakes, mints and nuts. Entertains Bridge Club Youngsvill* The Thurs day night bridge club met Jul\ tenth at the home ol' Mrs. A. N. Corpening. Guests attending were Mesdames N. A Brown. J. T. Moss, H. H Reddick. R. E. Youngsvilje Couples Dine And See Play Youngsville - Several Youngsvitte-couples and their guests had a night out toget her Sunday night when they attended the Village Dinner Theatre near Raleigh. C. Garner, Chamblee Speak Vows The marriage of Miss Be linda Kay Chamblee and Mr. William Percy Garner was solemnized Saturday, Jurte 28 in the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Raleigh. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Edward Chamblee of 3315 Starmount Drive. Ra leigh and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Jeffreys. Sr. of Route 1. Louisburg. and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wil bert Lee Garner of Selma. The 7:30 o'clock double ring teremony was officiated by the Rev. L. D. Holt, pastor Of the bride. Prior to the ceremony, nuptial music was presented by Mrs. H. S. Yarborough of Raleigh. Mr. H. S. Yar borough sang "Because", "Entreat Me Not to Leave Thee" and for the benedic tion "The Wedding Prayer". The wedding vows were said before an altar of a candelabra service, with two Trinity gracefully curve with flower design on them. Two precession, spiral candelabra with tree palms and spray palms and baskets flanked either side of the church. Candlelight and magnolia blossom decorated all church windows. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a for mal gown of white satin or ganza wedding ring neckline, lavished with pearls and en crusted Alencon lace, with extravaganza extended to long fitted sleeves. Her fingertip veil of im ported silk illusion was at tached to a crown of match ing lace petals embellished with crystal leaves and crystal tear drops which were attach ed to the end of each lace petal. The illusion veil was edged with pearls and crys tals. Her traditional bouquet was of miniature carnations, stephanotis and white hearts centered with two white orchids. Miss Sue Arnold of Ra leigh was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Andy P. Concepcion of Norfolk, Va.. Miss Vicki Gayle Chamb Diane Holmes Celebrates Birthday Temple Diane Holmes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. An drew L. Holmes of Route 1, Louisburg celebrated her sixth birthday with a cookoul from six to eight o'clock Tuesday night. Her headpiece was illusion attached to a ribbon rose design by the bride's mother, bach of the brides maids wore green chiffon over taffeta with headpieces same as the maid of honor. Their bouquets were of cymbidiums orchids. The bridegroom's father served as best man. Ushers were Andy P. Concepcion of Norfolk, Va.. Jesse L. Brown, Jr. and Gordon Woodruff, both of Selma, Chester W. Spencer and Stacey G. Wil kins of Raleigh. Mrs. Dalton R. Cates di rected the wedding. The bride is a graduate of Millbrook High School and now employed at Jeff | Chamblee Florists K. Gifts. | The groom is a graduate of Selma High School and at tended School of Barberlng In Durham. He is now employed at Gateway Plaza Hairstyling Studio & Barber Shop. Immediately following the ceremony the bride's parents entertained at a reception at the social hall of the church. It was decorated with yellow roses and yellow carnations. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Thompson. At the guest book was Linda Garner of Selma. Presiding at the punch bowl was Mrs. Claude Johnson and Mrs. Carroll Siceloff served the five-tiered wedding cake de corated with yellow rose buds and white wfrddthg bells. Following a wedding trip to the mountains, the couple will make their home at the Village Squire Mobile Estates in Raleigh. Engagement Announced r ?
