Sunday Rites Unite Couple The marriage of Miss Bar bara Louise Mc Arthur of Wakuila to Captain Wilson Ray of Franklin ton and Bang kok, Thailand was solemnized on Sunday, July 27 at four o'clock. The vows were spoken in Trinity United Methodist church. Red Springs, to the Rev. Russell S. Harrison and the Rev. Allen C. Lee, also of Red Springs. Mr. J. H. Gwinn of Maxton was organist, and Miss Ellen Conoly of Raeford soloist. Selections included "Whither Thou Goest", "0 Lord Most Holy", and "Hie Wedding Prayer." Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pat rick McArthur of Wakulla are | parents of the bride, and Cap tain Ray is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Archie Ray of Franklinton. Mr. McArthur gave his daughter in marriage. The bride wore a gown of white silk organza with pearl and sequin embroidered peau-d' Ange lace in empire design. The front was A-line with lace applique on the bodice, and with a jewel neckline and short teacup sleeves. The neckline dipped in back and held the all lace cage which extended to full chapel length. Her bouffant veil of illusion fell from a coron of organza fully em broidered with seed pearls. She carried a traditional cas cade bouquet of stephanotis and carnations centered with a white orchid. Honor attendants for the I bride were her sisters. Miss Betty McArthur and Mrs. James K. Home, both of Wakulla. They wore floor length A-line gowns in sweet pink of empire design, ac cented at the neckline, sleeves, and on the back panels with white Venise lace | threaded with pink satin rib bon They wore picture hats ; in matching color, and carried colonial style bouquets of mixed summer flowers tied with matching streamers. Bridesmaids were Miss Patsy Ray of Franklinton, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Millie Lou Phillips of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Miss Mary Ann Padgett of Fayetteville, Miss Sylvia McArthur and Mrs. John H. McArthur, III of Wakulla, all cousins of the bride; and Miss Margaret Hamlet of Pittsboro, Mrs. John Kearns of Thomasville, Mrs. Eddie O'Briant of Fayet teville, Miss Pamela Over street of Red Springs, and Mrs. Peter J. Hauser of Ral eigh. Their blue gowns and hats were styled identically like those of the honor atten- ; dants, and they carried spring time baskets of summer flowers. Best man was Harvey Bounds of Red Springs, uncle of' the bridegroom. Ushers were Lawrence Bounds of MRS WILSON RAY Kaeford. Howard Bounds of | Marion, and Jack Bounds of , Hed Springs, all uncles of the bridegroom ; and Jimmy McNeill of Fayetteville, Don Brown of St. Pauls, Wade Lindsay, Jr., Donald Hall, and C. P. Hyatt of Red Springs, cousins of the bridegroom; and James K. Home and John H. McArthur III of Wakulla, and Tommy McSwain of Southern Pines. Little Miss Angela HaU, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hall of Red Springs was the flower girl and car ried a white lace basket filled with rose petals. Ring bearer was Master Chris Buie, cousin of the bride, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Buie of Greensboro. The ceremony took place in a formal setting before a brass arch holding fifteen can dles and a sunburst of gladioli and chrysanthemums. Spiral candelabra stood at each side, and two nine branch candel abra held flowers. Pedestal bouquets were used on either side of the church. The mother of the bride wore a street length dress of mint lace and on it a white orchid corsage. Captain Ray's mother wore blue, and also wore a white orchid. Captain and Mrs. Ray left Sunday night for Nassau. They will return to North Carolina briefly before leav ing on August 15 for a 'round the world trip before return ing to his assignment in Bang kok, Thailand, where they will make their home. Mrs. Ray is a graduate of Red Springs High School and attended Appalachian State University where she majored in Social Science. She is a member of the Upper Cape Fear Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Captain Ray attended the University of Maryland in Heidelberg, Germany, The American University in Wash ington, D. C? and Augusta College, Augusta. Ga. He is at present serving as personnel officer for the Joint United States Military Advisory Group, Thailand. Following the wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Patrick McArthur were hosts at a receptin held in the garden of their home in Wakulla. wscs The W.S.C.S. of Leah's Chapel Methodist Church will meet Friday, August 1st. at 8 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Henry Wiggins. Delegates Attend 4-H Congress A delegation of 15 4-H Club Members and Agents an representing Franklin County at North Carolina 4-H Con gress in Raleigh this week according to L. D. Baldwin Agricultural Extension Agent The Franklin County dele gat ion are among some 1400 club members, leaders and Extension Agents participat ing in the annual four day program which began Mon day on North Carolina State University Campus. The program consists of recreation, attending classes, tours, competition, election of state officers and a lot of fellowship. "North Carolina 4-H Con gress offers an excellent op portunity for personal growth and development, comments Dr. T. C. Blalock, State 4-H Leader, it is an event that club members look forward to each year with great anti cipation," he added. During the week state win ners are determined in some 30 demonstrations, programs and various judging activities. Among the events in which Franklin County 4-H'ers are participating are: Myra Harris from Justice 4-H Club will give a demonstra tion on the Colorful World of Window Shades, Dan Harris, also of Justice 4-H Club, will give a demonstration on the "Pleasant World of Flower Garden". Dorothy Wood of Northside 4-H Club of Seven Paths will demonstrate "How to Prepare a Beet and Cab bage Scramble Dish". Sandra Harris of Justice 4-H Club will participate in the dress revue and Charlie McKnight will appear on the talent program. Bryant Foster and Jacquelyn Driver. The altar was decorated | with two seven ranch candel abra and one large basket of ; white gladioli, against a back ground of palms, with a kneeling bench. Mrs. John W. It was I fashioned with a portrait j neckline, bell shape skirt and watteau back with a detach able train. Her veil was attached to a double crown of alencon lace, trimmed with pearls and crystals. She wore cultured pearl earrings, gift of the bridegroom. Her bouquet was of white mums with sprays of baby breath dotted through out - centered with a white .hybrid orchid with streamers of lilies of vallies. Miss Pamla Rose Radford of Franklinton was maid of honor. She was attired in a floor length gown of blue taffeta with empire waist line with attached train from the back of the shoulders. She carried a bouquet of yellow mums. Miss Susan Frey, Miss Frankie Everett of Raleigh were bridesmaids. They were gowned identical fashion of the maid of honor. Best man was Israel W. Kjnram, father of the groom. MRS JAMES W PEGRAM from Wilmington, N. C. Bill Vaughan of Raleigh, Bill Hight of Louisburg were ushers. Mrs. Roberts wore for her daughter's wedding a dress of blue knit with matching accessories, with a white car nation corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore a dress of light blue lace with matching accessories and a white carnation corsage. For travel the bride changed to a pink linen dress with matching accessories and lifted the orchid from her bouquet. After a wedding trip the couple will reside at 809 (ilenwood Avenue, Raleigh. N. C. The bride is a graduate of Franklinton High School. She is employed by Dr. K. L. Johnson and the bridegroom is employed by the- Raleigh Police Department. CAKE CUTTING Mr. and Mr*. John W. Hol der, Jr. entertained the bride and groom at their home July 26 for their cake cutting after rehearsal. Members of the wedding party were present. The decorations - a silver candelabra was used for the table's centerpiece. It con sisted of white gladiolia and mums with green lace ferns. The three tiered wedding cake was at one end and the . punch bowl at the opposite. The mantel was banked in ivory and the traditional bride and groom was in the Franklinton On Saturday, Mr*. Clyde Waiden, Mrs Faye Timber lake and Mitt Cindy Secor left for Florida. Mrs. Waiden will visit fnends in New Smyrna. Sanford and St. Petersburg. Mrs. Timberlake and Miss Secor will travel to Silver Springs, Cypres* Gar dens and other sites. The group will return home by way of Charleston, South Carolina to meet Gene Wai den, who has been visiting Sgt. and Mrs. Clyde Lee Wai den. Jr. and family. Mrs. Clifford L. Walker of Richmond. Virginia is visiting Mrs. Marvin W. Hardy. Miss Leah Whitfield of Salisbury visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Whitfield, during the weekend. Janice Whitaker and Richie Whitfield are visiting Debbie Harris in Rowland. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hayes and children spent last week with Eugene Hayes and family in Stoneville. Missis sippi. Mrs. M. H.
