The 1970 Wheat Program announced by Secretary of Agriculture Hardin, contains five important features: ' 1. The national average support-level will be $1.25 per bushel. This is unchanged from recent years. 2. The diversion payment rate has been increased to 50% of county loan rate times projected yield. 3. A 12 percent reduction in farm allotments. 4. Wheat Marketing Certi ficates will be paid on 48% of the projective production. 5. The option under which a producer can substitute the planting of wheat for feed grains or feed grains for wheat in any combination, will be available. This new program is aimed at strengthening the U. S. position in world markets and at continuing the effort to bring wheal production into line with needs.
