About
Your Home
The husband who can
walk into an orderly house at
the end of a hard day at the
office can count himself
lucky. He may be under the
delusion that housework is
easy. Not only is "good"
housekeeping hard work, it
takes Organization and skill.
It is all but impossible to
run a household as it should
? be run without a desk or
"home office" where the
home maker can snatch a few
sit-down minutes while out
lining the week's menus or
paying the monthly bills. Far
too few of us have this bit of
private space.
The sit-down desk for the
home maker can be as elemen
tary as a shelf in a niche, or a
complete desk flanked with
files. It can be successfully
located anywhere -in the kit
chen dining room, living
room, or any place away
from daytime traffic. If you
wUI acquire the habit of or
ganizing your housekeeping,
it will not only look effort
less, but will be much easier
for you. You will probably
find that you have a little
more leisure time to do some
of the things you really en
joy.
A good riling cabinet' is
alipost as important as a stove
when "you are planning your
home. The average home mak
er has endless small articles,
booklets, clippings and extra
keys for the home and family
cars that she is responsible for
keeping track of. What better
way is there to insure always
being able to put your hand
on these items than to Hie
them away, under lock and
key.
In this day of "built-ins" it J
should be no problem at all
to have a hideaway home
office designed with a drop
-down desk and a cushioned
bench with a slide-out step
for reaching storage space and
a seat for your work, all in
one.

Health And Beauty
If you tried many times to
reduce, and failed, presum
ably from the lack of will
power, it may mean you need
to change your attitude.
In the first place, you
must really want to lose extra
pounds badly enough to end
ure some uncomfortable
days. This desire is the one
thing that is the basis of all
successful diets.
Psychologists tell us that
in this department many
people have a "mind set."
They say that, although you
don't want to fail, you fear
you will, and half-way expect
to. An extremely nervous per
son will over-eat because, by
drawing a great amount of
blood to the digestive tract to
digest the food, body tension
is relieved.
Over- large amounts of
food are used as a kind oC
sedative by some.
There are numerous other
reasons for over-eating-self
?pity, an inferiority complex
?the list could go on and on.
The important thing is to
understand your inability to
diet.
Once this problem has
been over-come, you are
ready ttf choose your diet
plan. If you want to lose a
great deal of weight, it is
important that you consult
your doctor. He will tell you
how fast to lose weight, the
best diet for you, and how
much exercise to take during
your diet.
If you want to lose four or
five pounds, you will prob
ably be able to do this by
simply cutting down on the
intake of food.
Remember--exerctse is
more important while you are
dieting than at any other
time, it helps keep your mus
cles and skin firm.
When at a loss for words.
say nothing.
