Ten Invested As Brownie Scouts
Youngsville - Ten brand
new Brownie Scouts were in
vested into scouting in a cere
mony held it the Youngsville
Girl Scout Hut Monday after
noon, October thirteenth.
Special guests in attendance
included Brownie Scout par
ents.
A symbolic forest scene
provided a setting for the
ceremony. According to
Brownie legend, scouts gath
ered in a circle around a
mirrored lake which cast their
reflections. The Brownie Pro
mise was recited by each new
member, after she told why
she would like to become a
Brownie. Presenting member
ship pins and extending the
Brownie Handshake was
troop leader Mrs. Wesley Mur
phy who was assisted by assis
tant leader, Mrs. J. R. San
ders.
Scouts invested were Pam
Faulkner, Angela Murphy,
Tammy Perry, Alice Shad
rack, Cora Underwood, Andie
Lindsey, Kim Jo Timberlake,

ceived membership stars were

concluded ceremonies.
Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. San
ders served refreshments
which included Brownie*,
Trumpets and assorted
cookies, to troop members
and guests. PiPineapple punch
was served from a crystal
punch bowl. Yellow and
white chrysanthemums deco
rating the table were com
plimented with yellow tapers
in crystal holders.

The annual fall session of
the Tar River Baptist Associa
tion will be held at the Duke
Memorial Baptist Church
Monday, October 20. Cypress
Chapel Baptist Church will
assist in entertaining the ex
pected 300 messengers and
visitors from the Associa
tion's 40 churches.
Mr. J. A. Morgan and the
Credentials Committee will
begin to register the messen
gers at 2:45 p.m. and the
meeting will begin at 3:30
p.m. Mr. Melvln A. Nelms,
moderator of the Association,
will preside over the meeting
assisted by Rev. Donald Wag
ner, vice-moderator.
The afternoon session will
feature messages by Dr. Ran
dall Lolley, pastor, First Bap
tist Church, Winston-Salem,
N. C. and Rev. Burel Lucas,
Secretary of the Sunday
School Department of the
Baptist State Convention.

The annual homecoming
day will be observed Sunday,
October 19th, at the Duke
Memorial Baptist Church In
the Juitlce Community. Sun
day School will begin at the
regular hour, 10:00 o'clock.
During the morning worship
service at 11:00 o'clock a
former pastor, Rev. Albert A.
Peverall from Marshall, N. C.
will bring the message

picnic lunch will be served on
the grounds at the concluaion
of the morning worship ser
vice.
There will be no program
after the noonday meal but
all are Invited to stay for a
period of visitation and fel

Mount Gilead
Homecoming will be held
at Mt. Gilead Christian
Church Sunday, October
19th.
Worship service will be at
11 a.m. with the Rev. T. N.
Daughtry bringing the mess
age.
Lunch will be served at
12:30 on the church grounds,
and will be followed by a
musical program at 2 p.m.

Hickory Rock
On Sunday, October 19, a
Homecoming Service will be
held at Hickory Rock Baptist
Church, Route 2, Louisburg,
N. C. At the eleven o'clock
