Louisburg High School Has Open House The Louisburg High School campus was the scene of an all-school "open house" Tuesday evening, October 28, when teachers received parents into classrooms, for conferences, or merely for becoming acquainted. Prior to this event, a seven -thirty o'clock program was presented in the school audi torium. Nine Future Home makers of America, for a devotional, emphasized values in home and family living. Narrator Linda Baldwin was assisted in a candle-lighting service by Carita Perry, Janice Mitchell, Princess Lynch, Barbara Brodie, Patricia Freeman, Ellen Pernell, Sharon Strick land, and Ernestine Mann, representing Kindness, Un selfishness, Loyalty, Cgurage, Honesty, Service, Patience, and Gratitude, all concentric to Love. Louisburg School Principal Thomas A. Riggan recognized two students recently honor ed: Miss Patricia Freeman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Freeman, who reside on Edward Drive, was elected District 4 President and North Carolina Recreation Leader, at the FHA District Rally on October 4; she will be a North Carolina delegate at the FHA National Con vention in New York City next summer. Henry Lee Mitchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Mitchell, of Route 2, is one of the twenty finalists for the state in the Eighth Annual United States Senate Youth Program; having submitted to the na tional written examination on September 17, he will be in terviewed in Raleigh on November 10; two students will be chosen to represent North Carolina at the January 1970 United States Senate Youth Program in Washing ton, D. C. Mr. Riggan reported pro gress thus far in the school term. The curriculum this year features several college preparatory courses, includ ing Advanced Biology, Ad vanced Math, Advanced Bookkeeping, French III, and Journalism; courses in trades and industry; and special in terests courses designed to meet individual needs. The cafeteria, he said, is good; prepared to cater to the 933 students enrolled in grades 5 through 12, through a two hour serving time, eleven until one o'clock each day; the high-school lunch hour is divided among classes during ? one-and -one-half-hour Fourth Period. Mr. Riggan congratulated the football team and Coach Thomas Twitty for an impres sive season of six wins and two losses. Louisburg High School has won the Franklin Area 1-A Conference Cham pionship for 1969. Faculty members and parents were invited to the front of the auditorium for a refreshment course prepared and served by first-year Home Economics students, under the direction of Mrs. Marjorie G. Leonard and Mrs. Mary B. Jones. Patricia Freeman and Linda Baldwin poured punch at the table marked by a yellow-and-white motif. On Honor List Cadet Michael King Jolly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur M Jolly of 710 North Main Street, Louisburg. has been named to the First honor roll for the grading period just ending. His average was 3.80 according to an announce ment by the Dean's office of Randolph-Macon Academy. This average is calculated by the following scale: A-4- B-3 C-2; D-l. Cadet Jolly has also been recently promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the Ran dolph-Macon Academy Corps of Cadets. This was by order of Major Ronald G. Mc Manus, RMA Commandant.
