C. ?Miss Green Honored At Reception Greensboro - Miss Alice Adelaide Green of Franklin ton was among the 170 sophomore scholars honored at a special reception on cam pus Tuesday at the University of North Carolina at Greens boro. Miss Green is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Green of 209 Lee*St. in Franklinton. Purpose of the reception was to acknowledge outstand ing scholarship by the jtu dents and to give them an opportunity to talk infor mally with various faculty members about areas of study in which they have an in terest. The 170 sopho'more scholars were selected on the basis of scholarship achieve ment from a sophomore class at UNC-G totaling 1,333 stu dents. Altogether, UNC-G has more than 6,400 students this year. Mrs. Tommie Lou Smith, associate dean at UNC-G, was coordinator for the reception. UNC-G Chancellor James S. Ferguson and Miss Mereb Mossman. vice chancellor for academic affairs, extended greetings to the group. Various deans, department heads, advisors for the junior year abroad program, the chairman of the International Studies Program and the chairman of the UNC-G Honors Council also attended the reception. We know old men who remember the compliments that came to them as little boys. Few utterances contain sufficient widsom to be re peated after a lapse of a few years.
