Star estimates the danjage by the fain to be at least $25,000 in Pener county, 1 he crops sre under I water and many farmers have been driven from their homes by the floods. The bridge across Black river at Point Caswell is partially wrecked and is expected to be swept away. Portions of the-county are like inland seas or great lakes. People are transporting - their property in boats or on rafts to places ofsafety. Many tur pentine, distilleries are under water and a number of stores as well as dwellings are drowned out. It is the greatest flood since 1867, it is said, and is doing irreparable damage in that fertile county. On the Cape Fear river the crops are all swept away, and there the loss is greatest of all.
