Mrtj July 9th. 18T3. Still the European oria goes maa over the " King of Kings." Ia Eog- - ..II land, even the Queen came to Linden -r I to do him honor, ami now ia France thf r xntement EcemsJntensc. America bis generally len very thoroughly laughed at fur its hero worships, and no end of criticisms have been writ ten ol us, ever since Dickens' severe hits in Martin Chizzelwit. Our German cousins didn't seem to enthuse quite so rcidily, and Mr. Shah treated them with a corresponding disrespect. His course i;j lirlin was such as to give great of iense to the highest in that land. The Diinstadt Journal didn't admire him, r.rul i;oc3 lor him tbusly : 4 Princes of the royal house were pre sented to the Shah, and he treated them with such un indifference that under other circumstances it could never have been tolerated. He paid more attention to those princes and persons who had riiiscd themselves by their own achieve ments to historical grandeur. He (leigaejLto honor the Crown Prince, Prince Frederick Charles, Bismarck, and Moltkc with a shake ot the head, while he proudly walked past the other princes as if they were far beneath him. Three members of the Israeiitic Alliance had an audience by the Shah, when he pleased to play the part of an au tomates toward them. It will, no doubt, be remembered that these gen tlemen had the praiseworthy intention of arousing the Shah's sympathy ior their oppressed brothers in faith in Persia ; but no word oi promise passed the lips of the Asiatic despot. At the day of the grand festival in the gardens of Potsdam, the train for bringing the Shah there had been ordered for 3 oclock, but ia his amiable nonchalance thc Shah kept the Empress and all other ladies fcr more than three quarters of tin hour waitiDg; when he came he lounged about the perron, never think- in" of excusing himself, or even salu- aicg the Empress. At Potsdam when the officer on duty came to bring him the morning report and to report that the troops were in readiness to receive him, he answered that he would give the order when the review was to take place, and he finally only witnessed the parade irom the vfindow. On the arrival of the Shah the Per sian gentlemen of h'.3 suite threw Bome " Kopecks'' (Russian coin) to the work men, who had helped to bring the lug "3"Q to the castle. When these work- 'men called cn the following morning lor then money they were sent from one Mv-Lian .n.rnitarv to tho nthpr. at last fj m to the cousin cf the Shah, who gave them the iollowing answer : " We Per- sians are the guests of the German Em- i u t -i u pcror, and wc would tail against the lirst law of hospitality -if we were to pay for anything ; if any one is our guest, wc always give him a gentleman of the court (a Mih-Mandar) and he1 pays for everything." Tiie New York Herald informs us that 44 the Second Auditor of the Treas ury has j ust completed the settlement of the account ot Jacob Thompson, Secre tary of the Interior under Buchanan's administration, and acting at that time as trustee oi me inuian iuuu. it is cord the following appointments : Hen shown there is a deficit ol fS21,000- ry G.
