Regrets their Departure.
It was with regret that we chron
icle the fact that T. J. Jerome
and family have left Monroe.
Some weeks ago it was decided by
the law firm of Adams, Jerome &
Armfield that it would be to the
interest of the firm to have one
of its members located in Salis
bury, as the firm was doing con
siderable practice in that terri
tory, and as a result Mr. Jerome
has gone to Salisbury and opened
an office, he a lid his family leav
ing Monroe last" Saturday. Mr.
Jerome is a native of Union coun
ty and is a son of our veteran and
beloved citizen, E. A. Jemme, of
Wingate. For over ten years Mr.
Jerome has been practicing law
here. He is an able lawyer and
stands high in his profession and
is the soul of honor, in a word is
a gentleman of untarnished char
acter. And we will say in passing
that the people of Monroe do not
regret the departure of Mr. Je-
ronae and his family all on ac
count t f the head thereof, for his
better half is a lady who adds
greatly to any social or religious
circle in which she moves and has
endeared herself to many in Mon
roe, Monroe Inquirer.

Therewere no new de
ment8 today as to the Blac
matter, but it may . be said
great positiveness that the Govern
or has his hands on the whole situ
ation and that he will take exact
ly the right action -at - the right
tima. He talks in a very cool and
conservative manner about the
matter. It is the comment here
by the general public that this af
fair marks the end of Blackburn,
so far as North Carolina is con
cerned. Your correspondence reported
the Republican convention here
many a year ago in which Black
burn, then a mere boy, made his
first appearance on so large a
stage, being introduced by some
older Republicans, with a great
flourish of trumpets as 'the
drummer-boy, who never knew
how te beat a retreat." He may
not have known how to beat them'
then, but hi surely has learned
since, for this week he has been a
little bit the greatest retreater
that North Carolina, , or for that
matter the whole country, has
ever known. There may be an
opening for him in the far West,
a prominent Republican said to
day, but he said he could not see
anything for him in this State,
unless it might be a hole in the
ground, and he would advise
Blackburn to pull that in after
him. This passing of Blackburn
will be the talk for many a long
day. Raleigh correspondence to

LOOK OUT FOR IMITATIONS
- With Tags About the Same
Color and Design As'
This
The quality of the genuine sun cured tobacco used in
REYNOLDS' Sun Cured and grown on soil where the best -sun
cured tobacco grows, has caused imitation brands to be
brought out and offered as the genuine Reynolds' Sun Cured
to unsuspecting dealers and chewers who do not look closely
at the printing on the box and on'the tag.
These brands only imitate the outward appearance and do
not possess the genuine inside quality that has been found in
Reynold's Sun Cured ever since Reynolds' Sun Cured was
introduced and which has so increased the chewing of sun
cured tobaccos and. proven so popular, that the word " Sun
Cured" is now printed on tags or in the advertising of many
bsands claimed to be genuine sun cured tobacco.
Did you ever see the word "Sun Cured" used in any
chewing tobacco advertisement, oi on any chewing tobacco
tag or label,.or in any other way, before it was introduced and
used to identify the genuine Reynolds' Sun. Cured ? v You see
it frequently now, because many imitation brands are being
.made to appear as nearly like Reynolds' Sun Cured as they
dare with tag, shape of plug and style of package so similar
that experienced buyers sometimes accept these imitations as
the genuine Reynolds' Sun Cured.
Don't be deceived into taking imitation brands for the
genuine. Be sure the letters on the tag spell " R-e-y-n-o-l-d-s'
Sun Cured," and you get the best value in sun cured chewing
tobacco that can be produced for chewers. Sold at 50c. per
pound in 5c. cuts ; strictly IOC. and 15c. plugs, with chewing
qualities Tike tha which was sold from 60c. to $1.00 per pound
before Reynolds Sun Cured was offered to the trade.
