Au effort is being made to. have a double daily mail service on the Yadkin road, between Salisbury and Norwood, There is but one postal clerk on the road n w and he makes the round trip daily. When the evening mail is heavy, as is sometimes the case, the of fice here ha not sufficient time to get this mail off on the early night trains on the main line. Postmaster Ramsay has received instructions from- the postoffice department to count the pieces of mail coming in on the Yadkin road, for a week, in order to aid in deciding about increasing the mail service. A small Jersey breeding cow with a record of four calves a year is considered unusually valuable stock, bat such is the property of James A. Trexler, who lives near the city. On February 2 7th, 1905, this cow gave birth to twins, and on February 4th, 1907, she repeated the performance, ma ki:;g a total of four calves in less than twelve months, and this didn't occur in Mecklenburg either. Tie Board Discusses Road ImproYeraert and Other Matters. . 1 . , -. The Board of County Commis sioners met in regular session on Monday. The Woodleaf school tax mat ter came up for discussion. One of the first township to vote thi? tax wa9 Unity. A number of vo ters fought the measure and low there is a numerously signed pe tition before the board, for an election to repeal it. The ro id question engaged tl f attention of the board to a great er extent than usual. The road force is now at work in different sections of the county. It is pro posed to macadamize the Coolee mee road to Second creek, (this to be done by the Cooieemee peo ple) and for this county to mee them at this point and Extend ttu road to the Wilkesboro road Th matter will be considered further at a subsequent meeting. It was decided to send one of the road forces to the Statesville road on the other side of Cleve land and will work that xoad from the B. A, Knox place to third creek bridge. The contract for furnishing sup plies to camp No. 1, was awarded to R, M. Roseboro, of Cleveland Kluttz & Rendleman will furnial supples to camp No. 2.
