Wesley Hill is going with the Bean Threshing Company. I guess things will go right now. L. D. Linn returned to L Salis bury Sunday to begiu work again. M. L. Agnerjs engaged in car penter work in Salhbmry for D. L. Arey. He is putting up two large houses and will soon have one completed. Lee Morgan went to Salisbury Saturday evening. I suppose they did not have any ice cream at Mr. Hill's Sat urday night. The ice factory was broken down and they could not get any ice. School began Monday last at the Pool school house with Miss Mary K. Pool, of Craven, as teacher. Thomas Linn is visiting at L. D. Linn's, his father. All right, Bro. Lee, go ahead, we would like to hear from you again. We will listen to you if you do not take the floor away when you get done with it. I guess you will give Wild Bill a chance too. Bro.sltemizer you had better be quiet down there or the white caps of Spencer will capture the town. Columbus Shepherd visited Miss Mary Stoner Sunday. John Barringer is thinking of going to Salisbury to work. The protracted meeting will be gin August 14th. It will be con ducted by Rev. W, P. Huddle. Here comes Patsey again, right from the blackberry patch, and ready to trot a'ong with the P. P's. Bro. Lee, as the farmers are getting through with their work, they like to go to see their best neighbors to get something good to eat. Several -very severe wind and hail storms passed thr ugh our comuiun-ity last week which did much damage to growing crops, fences and trees. The protracted meeting will be gin at Corinth Baptist Church Sunday, August 18, 1907. We are needing rain very bad now. We had a light shower last week but not enough to wet the ground thoroughly. Walter Burrage will finish saw ing for J. M. Morgan in a few weeks. He has not decided where he will move next. P. A. Ribelin was hit by a ball while playing Saturbay evening and badly bruised, must have had good sight as the ball hit the "Bulls eye." Alex, says playing ball is hard work when acting as back stop. Itbizmerv SOUTH ROWAN. July 29th. We are now having a fine season for corn and cotton. Cotton is growing very fast, but not many bolls are yet formed. Corn is looking exc. edingly well. The daughter of James B. Yost is now well again, we are glad to note. George Beaver, who had a se vere case of typhoid fever, is now on the mend. We wish him a speedy recovery. Robert Joeey's great helper did not stay with him long, as they moved to Kannapolis the other day. Daniel Powlass beats the peg to kill black snakes. He killed one the other day that measured 8 feet in length and 10 inches in in circumference. Next Saturday there will be a picnic near or at Milo Overcash's. The Sunday school children's pa rents are invited to come and bring their friends with them. There will be several good speak ers present who will deliver most eloquent addresses. There will be a series of meet ings held at Dunn' s Mountain Baptist church, beginning on the 1st Sunday night. The meeting will be conducted by Rev. Davis, of Faith. We hope that there will be much good done for the com munity. Mr. Davis is a very fine speaker and a good preacher. J Ribelin & Son are at work sawing timber for Ji. E. Davis on the Suman place. They will have sawing for several months there. Mr Davis has several hundred thousand feet to saw west of Salis bury. Hawk is going to the A D J at Lyerly Saturday night, August 3rd. Boys be ready to initiate him. D. C Trexler was a pleasant caller at George Miller's Sunday evening, July 28th. Most of the sawmill boys are doing their cooking in the old Su man house. Hawk will not visit them tor they eat no chicken. Walter Ribelin is boarding with George Miller near Dunn's Moun tain. Marshal Arey, who is working at Salisbury, visited home folks Saturday and Sunday. Uncle William Kirk is on the sick list at this writing. Southerner visited Brown-Eyed Girl Sunday evening.
