The day of statesmanship has passed and it is more than likely that the amendments are nothing more than thehidden scheme of self-seekers and to keep these fellows in bounds nothing will be more effective than to refuse to make changes in the constitution. The waste of city funds in the way of excavating an antiquated hole, called a reservoir, for the city's new watterj supply is progressing and this hole is now deep enough to tap; the under ground water line. Tomlinson, salesman for and part owner of the Tomlinson Chair Munufac turing Company, High Point, N. C, was found dead on the Hoor of his lighted room in the Hotel Brevport this afternoon. There was a bullet wound in the right temple. Near the body was a revolver. The old talk of moving the Spencer depot to a point on Salisbury Avenue at the end of the car line on the railroad prop erty in the heart of Spencer, has been revived, but so far there is nothing definite about the mat ter.
