The name of Odell in this State is be coming synonymous with manufactur ing enterprise. J. A. & J. M. Odell have long been identified with cotton manufacturing and their energy and enterprise has been of incalculable ben efit to the State in developing its re sources. Raised in Randolph county they have worked up from the bottom and stand to-day conspicuous represen tatives of the industrial progress f the State. On Sunday their second cotton factory was dedicated at Concord. The services were novel ana impressive. to witness the ceremonies. The dedi cation sermon was preached by Dr. Craven, of Trinity College, himself born and reared in Randolph County,- and whose struggles and career is an im pressive demonstration of his text. The text was : " Go to the ant, thou sluggard, con sider her ways and be wise. While having no guide, overseer or ruler, pro videth her meat in the summer and gathereth her food in the harvest." Proverbs, 6th chap., 6-7-8 vs. The sermon was strong, practical and impressive, occupying an hour and fif teen minutes. At its conclusion a ded ication hymn was sung by Mrs. Nichol son of Greensboro. Capt. J. M. Odell, of Concord-, then presented the factory to Dr. Craven for dedication to God. A fervent benediction was invoked, the doxology was sung, and to-day the spindles are going.
