said that charges of the most serious

various members of tho detective
anuad at Police Headquarters. The

principal of these charges is uuler
stood to be based on an alleged col
lusion between two of tho detectives
and George McDonnell, lately con
'victed of forgery, in London. It is
alleged that McDonnell was allowed to
retain a large amount of money which
should have been seized and delivered
to Mr. Daoosta, the Representative of
the Bank of England in this country.
McDonnell, it is said, made an affida
vit embodying his knowledge of the
' case and sent it to the District Attor
ney. The list of charges were pie
pared by the Assistant District Attor
ney and forwarded to Police. Cornmis
sioner, Duryea.
