Woodard Chairman of the Executive Com loittce. in appropriate remark, ex plained the olyect of the meeting to bo the appointment of delegates to tho State Convention, which meets in Raleigh, Jnne 17th. On motion of Dr. A. G. Brooks, Mr, Thos. J. HaJlejF was elected chairman Upon taking the chair Mr. IlaUley made a telling speech in which hc;urg- td the democrats of Wilson to be uni ted and harmonious, vigilant and active and that success would crown their efforts in 'the coming campaign. . Jlr. Iladley on taking bis seat, was loudly applauded, and on motion of Dr. 1). G, W. Ward, Mr. T. C. Davis was appointed Secretary, and tb meet ing declared duly organized. On motion of H. F. Murray, E?q the cliairman was Uistructca to ap point two delegates irom eachtowii' ship, and tweue from the county at large to represent Wilson county in the State convention. On motion of II. G. Connor, Esq., a Committee of one from each township was appointed by the chairman to draft resolutions expressive of the enses of this meeting. The following committee was ap pointed who retired to prepare reso lutions : II. F. Murray, Dr. A. G. Brooks, A. T.Barnes. Jesse Kirbv, Dr. H. F. Freeman, W. W. Farmor. J. W. Crowell, T. H. Bridgers, S. II. Tyson, Dr. D. G. W. Vard. That while it is democratic doctrine thajt the . majority must rule where its will is in irrecon cilable conflict with that of the minori ty yet it is un democratic to deny rep resentation to the minority where it can be done without- antagonizing the majority. That Wilson county contemplates with pride the career cf her worthy citizen the present Attorney-General of the State ; that she hails with grateful appreciation the endorsement which he received from more than ono ; hundred .thousand Dem ocratic votes in 1876, and that, en couragod by such an overwhelming sanction, she. ventures to bring him once more as a candidate for re-election to the exalted position which be now adorns, feeling assured that be will command the ready homage of that great party whose rewards e the-meed of the ablest and purest of its'followers- On motion of Dr. J. Taylor it was , Resolved, that this convention sub mit to the County Executive Commit tee for their adoption or rejection the following suggestion : That all persons voting at the pri mary election are expected to abide by the result of said election and sup port the nominees of the democratic party in the connty. ...
