The' Methodist congrega tion in Monroe will regret very much to tiive up the Pastor who ha3 so ably served them for the past three years, but as it is on account of hi3 health that a change was thought best t hey will yield more cheerfully to the Bish op's decision and hope that the change will be for the best, and that in coming years he will again be sent here. The Methodist .people of Wilson have just cause for self congratulation. They will find the Rev. Mr. Guinr. an able, zealous minister, who will make them a good pastor and their town a good citizen. Besides the usual prepa rations always made we are glad to notice that among the festivities of the week the various Sunday schools will make efforts to give the children a pleasant time. To-night (Friday) there will be a Christmas tree at the Missionary Baptist church. The chiirch will be open to all. Interest ing exercises will precede the distribu tion of the presents. Presents will be given to the Sunday school scholars arid afterwards from friend to fiiend. Ail persons nre welcome lo put prcs enjts on the tree for their friends. Persons desiring to .place gifts on the tree should send them to-day to Miss F. Aniiis Carter at the pastor's resi dence. Monday night in Mafnona Hall the Meihodist sund.nv school will have a supper, which will doubtless be a suc cess. And Tuesday; the annual Christinas festival of St'. Timothy's church-Sunday school will take place. The teachers and children will meet at the rectory nt 4 :30 p. m. The procession will enter the church at o p. m.. and after services in the church they will repair to M anion a Hall where the iiifts will he distributed. All are cordially invited. All of tltese snnday schools are, we believe, in 'a flourishing condition and each ot them; will give a pleasant time to the children and to the older ones too. ' Four colored tramps passed through town on Monday, saying - they were from Duplin county, and on their way to Raleigh. It becomes our painful duty to chronicle the death of Mtss' Martha Privett. aged about 17 years. She was living with Mr. J. J. Pierce at the time of her death. Her death was caused by the explosion of a lamp. Every effort was tcrade to extinguish the names but -all in vain. I am equally grieved to announce the deatu of Wille Sturdivaht who died cf -.typhoid fever on the 20th ins., aged 2 years, lou said in your last issu that Mr. Jo. Evans was dead.
