THE ROANOKE NEWS, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1, 1S91. CONSUMPTION. ItW TRKATMEMT BY A MAHTLAND PI1T8CIAN. The Medical World for September contains an interesting article by Dr. Nevin B. Shade, formerly of Hagers town, but now of Washington, describ ing his plan of treating tubercular dis eases and the results of his treatment. - For some years past Dr. Shade has been treating tubercular consumption with lydraroyri chloridum mite4, giving from one to two grains every night for a week then omitting the medicine perhaps for a week. Meanwhile quassin is given with Lot water before meals. Care on the part of the physician is required. The result has been a success in about all the cases treated. The theory, fortified by microscopic studies, is that the bydrarg- Tn chionuum mite disorganizes the bacillus of tuberculosis. NEW ADVERTISEMENTS. -STOP AT- Soofai CLEAN ROOMS. SPLENDID TABLE POLITE SERVANTS. AHORSE'S MEMORY. AFTER AN ABSENCE OF TEN YEARS HE RECOGNIZES HIS OLD MASTER. "About nineteen years ago Dr. Wal ton bought a pair of chestnut sorrel horses for 8500," said Tom Felts last night, "and after keeping them a short time he sold one of them for $150 to Mr. TTeasley. I bought him from Mr. Teas ley for $150, and for nine years that horse and I lived together nearly all the time. "Part of the time I lived in the country, and one iainy night the loft of the stable, with sixty-five barrels of corn in it, fell in and pinned that horse down to the ground so that he could hardly move. I did not hear the crash, but I afterwards found out it occurred about midnight. Next morning I went up to the stable, and it nearly broke my heart to see the horse that I loved more than any body or anything in this world in such a fix. He lay perfectly still, and I thought he was dead, and I wouldn't help crjiug. After a while we got him out, and I just know from the way he rubbed his nose against me that he knew how much I loved him, and how much I suffered to see him pinned down to the ground that way with sixty-five barrels of corn on top of him. "About ten years ago I sold the horse to Stirling Walker, and ho promised not to sell him any more. But after lie hud kept him a long time he traded him to a man up in Springfield, who afterwards sold him at public auction down here on the Square. A man named Griggs, in North Nashville, bought him and now I'm going to tell you something funny. "Day before yesterday I was passing along Buena Vista street when I saw a horse standing on the other side of the street. I wasn't thinking about any thing in particular, and just walked on. First thing I knew that horse had cross ed the street and was rubbing his nose against me. "Twasmyold horse, and he hadn't seen me in ten years. But he had remembered me. Nashville Ameiican.
