Convicts Escaped. Saturday a
colored convict escaped from the guards
at Great Falls. He was at work with the
others. The morninp; was very foggy
and taking advantage of this fact he

Two convicts also escaped from the
State farms a few days ago. So lar as
we have learned none of them have been
captured.
A White Mole. We were shown a
white snowbird not lone since and we
havo heard of white blackbirds, but we

with white snowbirds and blackbirds.
Mr. J. W. Liles, of the Aurelian Springs
section informed us a few days ago that

W. D. Parker was exempt from poll
Died. Mr. R. J. Boyd, an aged
and respected citizen of the Aurelian
Springs section died ou Wednesday of
last week, aged about seventy-five years.
He was a good neighbor, a good husband
and father and a consistent member of
the M. E. Church. He leaves a wife
and a number of children and grand
children to mourn their loss. He was
buried Thursday.

Dry Kiln Burned. On Thursday
lastAe dry kiln of Mr. A. M. Inge was
-&itroyed by fire. Six thousand feet of
lumber was also destroyed, the amount of
the loss being about one hundred dollars.
The kiln was at his lumber yard, about
three wiles from town.

Murdered at Day Light. On
Thursday morning before sunrise Mr.
Atlas Tavlor. a respected citizen of

Northampton county, was foully murdered
at his home near Seaboatd. He had
risen and gone out to feed his stock about
Jay, as was his custom. 13 i- failing to
return caused him to be sought for, and
in the barn yard there were evidences of
a struggle. A club was also found which
was bloody at one end. Mr. Taylor
could no whore b i S3en and the search
was extended. In several hours his dead

a mile frum hi dwelling. The head
was considerably bruised showing con
clusively that he had been clubbed to
death. Mr. Taylor was a quiet, inoffc
sive man and no one can account for the
murder except that he was supposed to
carry with him more or less money aud it

money and his budy put in the creek to

The coroner's iurv returned a verdict
in accordance with the fact and implica

ination they could not be connected with
the crime and were discharged.
