Raleigh is taking advantage of the new State vagrancy law to get rid of some gamblers. Warrants have been issued for several gamblers who followed no business and no means of support. Other towns might follow this example. Mr. C. Msrkley, of Roanoke, has been awarded a contract for street improve ments in Salisbury, the cost of whioh will be $25,000 or mora. The work of laying the sidewalks with vitrified brick is to login immediately and the other street improvements will be made at the same lime.
