So I inclement was the weather that the ' programme arranged for the Bright Jewels service at the M. I:, church . was pospoued till Tuesday night, and no evening service was held at the M. A special to the News and Observer , from Louisburg, dated March 27th says : "Mr. W. B. Green died last , night at 1 1 :30 o'clock in the 44th . year of his age. A sufferer front locomotor ataxia for several years past he had battled bravely against : cruel fate until last Saturday he had a chill from i he effects of which he never rallied, gradually sinking ' until the end came. A true friend, ever ready with open purse and outstretched arm to assist the suffering and the distressed, he leaves behind him friends and play mates of the days that are past and gone who will ever revere his memory. The funeral services took place this afternoon at the residence and the remains were interred in the cemetery." Mr. Green was for several years a citicn of Weldon. He was a man of remarkable energy, and this fact was demonstrated when he acted as secretary of the Roanoke and Tar River Agricultural Society in 1 900, the Weldon fair that year, under his management, being one of the best in recent years. He was also at one assistant postmas ter here, and later on he engaged in the manufacture of brooms be ing one of the mcorporators of the Weklon Broom Company. He leaves a wife and one child, a little son about seven or eight years old. His wid iw was formerly Miss ' Hennie Cape!!, a daughter of the late W. H. Capell. who died w hile he was postmaster at Weldon. F..sti:k OusKKV.wa:. - Much I to the disappointment of Weldon people Kaster day dawned bleak and cold. The sun made several attempts tu break through the clouds during the morning hours, but finally save up the struggle ; and hid her smilim: f.iee behind dark clouds. Nevertheless, Weldon people turned out in joyous Paster attire ' to attend the morning services at both the Methodist and lipiseopal churches. No services were held I in the Uaptist and Presbyterian ' churches. i There being bin one theme for the day, the story ol the Resur-' i iceiiini of Chi il, liile Ntniluiis i were preached by Rev. Mr. Tol-: sun at Grace church, and by Rev. ; Mr. Humble at the M. P.. church. , The decorations were profuse at ; both churches and the Paster nui-, sic was of an unusually high order. 1 The Grace church eluiY appre ciates the aid given them in ren dering the Paster music by Mrs. W. K. Daniel, and Major R. T. Daniel, of the Weldon Baptist i church; Miss Sallie Mason Long, of Northampton county, and Mr. J. T. Pope, of Weldon. Pilled with the fullness of what the resurrection of Christ from the dead means to mankind, the worshippers caught the spirit of the occasion and proclaimed in jubilant songs and anthems of praise the story of Christ's trium phant victory over the grave and His glorious resurrection from the dead.
