The board elected the fol lowing officers for two years; W. Y. Gay, Chief Police; J. L. Harris, collector of city taxes; Dr. I. E. Green, superintendent of health; W. E. Daniel, city attorney; J. W. Pierce, street commissioner and mayor Pro. Tern.; D. E. Stain back, city clerk. J. T. Pope, night policeman. iutendeni of health for quite a number of years, and during his several terms of office we can aay that no man has ever been more faithful and zealous in the discharge of every duty. In everything that has been for the betterment of the health conditions of the county, he has labored earnestly in sunshine and in rain, Wherever duty called he quickly responded, and in this way he has often prevented the spread of contagious diseases. Par ticularly in the handling of the smallpox situation, which has been alarming more than once in Mali-1 fax county during his term of of- j lice, he has taken the disease by the horns, as it were, and stamped j it out. Everett, superintendent of the Weldon Public Schools for 191 1 -IV) 1 2. Teachers were elected for t'ae second, fourth, fifth and sixth grades and for the high school. The first, Uurd and seventh are vacant and to be tilled later. Teach ers elected are as follows: First tirade Vacant. Second tirade Miss Mary Bin ford Sledge. Third Vacant. Fourth Miss I lelen Pope. Eifih-Miss Mary Webb. Sixth Mi-s Theresa Dickens. Seventh Vacant. I ligh School - Miss Bessie King. The re-cleciion of Superinten dent Everett gives great satisfac tion to every one in the school dis trict. He has been doing excellent work here, and the school under Ins superintendency has been pros perous. We are pleased to have Superintendent and Mrs. Everett with us for another year. Four of the teachers elected are members of the faculty of the clos ing school y ear and they have been doing fine work in their respective grades and we are pleased 10 know that they will continue in the good work.
