J I C X PI D V ' bis disease is one ot the most ancient in medical lllO I Un I i history. Moses, no doubt, knew of this disease, tor while the Israelites were encamped in the wilderness, he enforced cer tain sanitary laws that, were they enforced tod iv, they w ould absolutely prevent the spread of not only the Hookworm disease but Typhoid and Cholera as well. In fact, there lus been discovered in Thebes, L'gypt, a medical book, the oldest on record, w ritten one hundred years before the birth of Moses, and in this book the hookworm disease is described. It has not been but a few years since it waslit st discovered and found to be so prevalent in America. Bclore this it w as thought thai that large body of weak, delicate and pale people were so because of condi tions inherited at birth and could not be cured. Now, however, this is known not to be the case, that most of these people are so owing to the I lookworm disease and can be cured. PKIAAI.I.NCI:. About one-third of the people, all classes, eld and yo'iug, have this disease. DlSl lvMlil TION.
