Furmanski, who baa been domi cilled in our city by the sea for the past three years, bids adieu to his many friends and acquaintances in Wilmington in a card elsewhere published this afternoon. During Mr. Furmanski's residence here he has made many friends and acquain tances who will be loth to see hioi de part. As a good citizen, Mr. F. has won the respect and esteem of many of our best people. Always prompt andjpunct ual iui bis busines arrangements, Mr Furmanlhki has met with that success which promptness and close attention to business always ensures. We wish him success in his new fie!d of labor wher ever that nay be. L.elslaciye Huntor. The closing houri of a Sesoioo are gen erally more or leas humorous. The strain of labor hi allowed to relax and good humor and pleasantries are indul g d political lines fur the moment be ing obliterated. We clip the following from the Raleigh Observer in which pa per it wag incorporated in its report of the proceedings of the Senate on Thurs day: The calendar was annc unced as cleared, and President iiobinson called Mr Cald well to the chair. Quite a number of ladies graced the galleries. Mr. Scales moved that the Senate ad journ to the galleries. A call was made for the ayes and noes. The chair declared the eyes had it, they being as two to one of tha nose. A motion was made to suspend the rules with a view to an adjournment. The chair said it required three-fourths to suspend the rules, and as that number was not presenttthere could be no adjourn ing this night, unless the chair should have occasion to change his mind. This reminded Mr. Snow of an anec dote. Mr. Williamson asked the Senator from Buncombe (Mr. Davidson) if the news had been confirmed that the tunnel had gone throngh the Blue Ridge. Mr. Davidson was not advised of the movements of the tunnel, but he was in a position to assure the Senator that Major Wilson had. A committee was appointed to ascertain how it was that the good-loeking Senator from Guilford (Mr. Caldwell), never got married. The committee reported that he was paired with Senator Bledsoe. A resolution was adopted that it was the sense of the Senate that hereafter no church should be built within three miles of a grog-shop. A resolution was adopted to enquire whether apples could be made a legal ten der and peanuts be used as small change. A bill was introduced making Asheville, Buncombe county, a seaport town. A message was received from the House announcing the passage of the following bills : An act to abolish the State of North Carolina. An act giving the officers of the House an equal share of all the money in the treasury. An act abolishing the Senate brarch of the General Assembly. An act nominating the gentleman from Orange guardian for the rings, bond swappers and railroad thieves. The chair said the passage of an act to abolish t he Senate brauch of the Assembly was an indignity to this body, and he moved to throw the message under the table. This pleasantry was brought to a close by Mr Scales moving a vote ef thanks to Senator Qaldwell for the dignity and im partiality with which he bad presided over the deliberations of the Sena'e whilst occupying the chair, and called upon the chair to deliver his valedictory. The chair (and we say it in all serious ness) delivered one of tne most elegant addresses we ever had the fortune to listen to, which was greeted at its close with a hearty round of applause, and waving of handkerchiefs by the ladies in the gallery Yeast has now gone out of date, be it known to all busy maids and matrons. Dooley's Baking or Yeast Powdeb is the master of the field. Corn bread, buckwheat cakes, muffins,.- wan ies, bis cuits, pot pies fruit dumplings, etc., get their highest touch of art and delicacy from its use. SATURDAY , MARCH Church Services.
