T ie following was referred to the Com mittee on Fire Department: brdered, That at all fires within the city nooks, whenever in the opinion of the ChL-f ot the hire Department, the lire is under control, aud the further at tendance of the Fire Department is not required to keep the fire from spreading to adjoining property, then its attendance as a public duty shall cease; and any fur ther services ot the Fire Deparment , or any one cf the companies which may be required or demanded, shall be at the fol lowing charge, to be paid by those inter ested or Leuefitted, viz: $5.00 per hour fir ach steam fire engine company for day seavice, and $7.00 per hour for night ser vice half to go to the company so em ployed, and half to go into the City Treasury, for the wear end tear of the engine and the fuel consumed, half ot the above prices to be charged for the service of a hook and ladder and hand engine, all of which shall go to the company. : The Chief of the Fire j Department is hereby charged with theexecutiou of this ordinance. j ' j 1 I The iollowing, recommended by the Clerk of the Market, was' - referred to the Committee on Market and Feet: Ordered, That the Chief of Police, with the concurrence ot the Clerk of the Market, be required, and is hereby required and instructed, to have the stand tor market carts changed from its present location, on Market and Second streets, to Front stieet, between kla.ket and Oiauge streets; the chauge to be made on or before the loth instant, aud after that date no market carts to occupy any other standout the latter. Josephine Harlle, colored, arraigned for wilul trespass before Justice Gard ner, waB fined $10 and costs and commit ted on default of payment of the eame. , Dinck Holmes, colored, arraigned be- fore a trial Justice for misdemeanor, was bound over to the Criminal Court1 in the sum f $50 for his appearance at that tri bunal. Painful Accident. Mi r. Wm. Kinnon, first mate of the steam tug Easton, met with a painful accident yesterday at the Magnolia Rock Quarry, a few miles above this city. The Easton had some scows in tow, and it was decided to give them more hawser. Mr. Kinnon was attending to letting out the hawser when his right leg became entangled in the coil of rope and was drawn down to the ''bite" before it could be disentangled, It was considerably bruised but the bone was not crushed. Mr. Kinnon was cared for as soon as pos-ible and is to-day doing well, but unable to use his bruised limb. He was very fortunate; in not having his leg severed by the hawser.
