George Davis, of this city, has concluded to accept the appointment tendered him by Gov. Jarvis as one of the commissioner under the act providing for the adjustment of that portion of the State debt which is a lien upon her stock in the North Carolina Railroad, reference to which is made in bur editorial columns to-day. P Oldham's flour and meal estab lishment on Water street, nearly under our office, found six rats this morning in a trap which he left prepared for tbeir re ception on Saturday night He carried them into the street, where there was an exhibition for a few moments ia which three small dogs were engaged in catching the rats as they were released, one at a time, from the trap.
