City Court.
Two individuals from the rural dis
tricts who had formed a too close intimacy
with John Barleycorn last Saturday night,
and were arrested in consequence, were
arraigned this morning upon the charge
of disorderly conduct. Taking into con
sideration the verdancy of the defendants
in the "ways that are dark and the trick-)
that are vain" in the neighborhood of
Paddy's Hollow, where tbe parties were
arrested, His Honor suspended judgment
upon payment of costs.
Doc. D. Beery, colored, went ship,
lifting Saturday night, and tried to lift a
piece of bacon from the store of A. C.
Wessell, on North Water street, but tie
attempt proved abortive for Mr. Wessell
caught him in the act and turned him
i
over to the police, and this morning he
appeared at the bar of the court to answer
to tbe charge of larceny. The Mayor,
after hearing the evidence, bound him over
to the Criminal Court in the sum of $50
and ordered the aforesaid Beery to be
delivered into the custody of the Sheriff
This finished the business of the day ana
the court adjourned. '

In ail cases where poll or personal proper
ty taxes are due, the Treasurer and Tax Col
lector shall, after giving ten days' notice be
fore the first day of February, 1880, levy upon
the personal property of such delinquent and
sell the same as by law provided, to satisfy
said poll and personal property taxes. .
And the said Treasurer and Tax Collector,
in bis said settlement to-be made on the :15th
of March, 188O, shall not be allowed to show
the sale of any real estate er the return of
any delinquent as insolvent, in said settle
ment, unless he can show, by actual levy and
return, that he has exhausted the personal
property of such delinquent real estate tax
payer before selling his said reai estate, and
tnat he has exhausted the personal property
of each delitquent poll or edrsonal property
taxpayer before returning hi oa as insolvent.
Ordered, further, That Interest, at the rate
of 8 per cent.j per annum, shall be charged
and collected on all taxes remaining unpaid
after the 1st of January, 1880.
Ordered, further, That all ordinances, or
parts of orpinances, inconsistent with this or
dinance,' are hereby repealed.
