It Will Cur if Taixly Teited. It pives me much pleasure to be able to itiletkat I have derived an effectual cure of Scrofula from the use of Mrs. Joe Person's remedy for that disease. I had Buffered j t-om Scrofula for more than three years, and had despaired of erer getting well. I wis treated during that time by three very eminent physicians, without any good result. I then went to the National Surgical Inetl tute, at Atlanta, Ga., and was treated there more than two months, with no better re eultthan my family physicians met with. After returning from the Institute, I was persuaded to try Mrs. Person's remedy, and i bad not used it more than a week before I discovered its curative and healing proper ties. My sores soon began to heal, and the color of my 6tin changed as fast as the sores healed. I had not thought of ever getting well acain, but my hopes Increased, my low f piritednes fled before tin remedy, and I am now enjoying splendid health and am m food spirits- The remedy U mild as ap ur fative, and a strong tonic ; It will heal the most stubborn sore in three weeks If taken nearly. The first blow was fearful eaougb, unroofing the new and rear por- tioa of the Purcell House and blowing eoces and limbs of trees, sign boards, i helter-skelter. This was succeded by rain, when the elements seemed gath ering strength for the final charge upon us. Just about 1 o'clock the second gale broke upon us ia all of its fury. The wind had shifted to the West' and. the most disastrous 'part of the storm came from that direction. It was-perfectly fearful in its .violence. and inflicted much damage to property in various 'sections ofihecity, ; . . -,i ; The most serious disaster, one which involves ihiury to.' indmduals, occurred at the Wiloiington, Columbia & Augusta freight depot The roof was blown in aud four colored men, who " were at work thereat the time, were injured, three of them, it is thought, seriously. . We have not oeen able, as yet, to get but two of the names. .These are Guilford Hodley and Jim Davis. . Other sheds at 'the de pot were unroofed. There is also a re port to the effect that a house near the Eastern extremity of Castle street was blown over and a colored woman, the oc cupant, was killed, while two of her chil dren were hurt, but this needs confirma tion" " A small dwelling, near the corner of Eighth and Church streets, was blown down but no one was injured., A new house being erected by Mr. Geo. Honnet, corner Front and Nun, was blown down and one cow was killed and two hurt, the property of Mr. J ohn Haar. The front windows of the City Hall were broken and damaged. - The roof of Messrs. : Aaron & Rhein stein's store, on Front street, was car ried away and the upper .floor flooded, causing heavy damage to the stock. Not only wa3 a part of the roof of the Purcell House taken off but the upper piazza in the rear, facing to the North, was taken up and carried over the build ing and thrown partly upon the L of Messrs. Brown & Roddick's new store and partly in the rear of Mr. J. Samson's The damage in each instance is consider able. Part of the roof of Messrs. Mitchell & Son's store, on Water street, was carried away. . A large eheJ on the West side of river was prostrated. . The large warehouse of the .New lork & Wilmington Steamship Line was among the first to yield to the fury of the blast. It is almost an entire wreck. The barque Carl Max, moored at Messrs. DeRoset & Co'i. wharf, on the west side of the river, was blown to th's side, carrying with her a part of the whirf to which she was moored. The ship is uninjured, and is now safely moor od at the wh rf near Dock street. Th3 river front of Messrs. P.Cumming & Co's. mill, foot ot uocK street, was badly damaged. The roof of the warehouse on MessrsJ Worth & Worth'a premises was taken o2 and a lot of hay stored there was damaged. Other roof in the same lo cality were also carried off, bat we did not hear of any special damages thereby. Part of the rocf of the Person build ing, foot of Chestnut street, was lifted flooding the offices with water. The telephone wires and telegraph wires in various parts of .the city wtre prostrated. Wooden fencC3 acd even brick walls in various direction, yielded to the fury of the wind. Time and space fail and we cannot particularize these. ; The maximum . velocity of .the wind was 80 miles an hour and it blew at that rate between! :35.and 1:40 o'clock. We stated a few days since that spirits turpentine had not reached 50 cents in this market for many years past and we were correct, w notwithstanding the fact that the Stat .asserts , this .morning that 500 casks were sold here in March, 1880, at 50 cents. " The sale was made, it is ' true, Messrsr-Worth & Worth, (if our memory is correct) being the sellers; and Messrs. Chess, Carley k Co. the buyers But the sale was made on private terms and was not given out. for record. It does not appear either in the newspapers or on the books of the Produce Exchange and therefore had neither an official nor a public existence. As such it cannot be classed as a transaction in spirits at that time, inasmuch as it did not take 'place in open market. At Jeast, that is' the view we take of it and we therefore stat ed that spirits had not reached 50 cents a gallonlsince April, 1875, and we repeat the assertion, up to yesterday.
