Address IT A New York letter says: I hear some of the Democrats here are getting up a Cabinet for Cleveland in case he is elected. They put down Carl Schurz, for Secretary of the Interior, as a very jood recent Democrat ; Sam Randall, fr Secretary of the Treasury, as a man who will pay nothing out; William C. Whitney, of New York, as Atlornev- General; Tom Bayard, of Delaware, for Secretary of State; Joe Brown, of Georgia, for Postmaster General; Hub bard, of Texas, for Secretary of Wr, and Thurman, of Ohio, for Secretary of the Navy. There are various versions ot this Cabinet, but the one I have given seems to be the most talked about. A letter from Brownsville, Pa., to the Philadelphia Times says: '"The strongest Republican vote against James G. Blaine in this section . of Pennsylvania will be in his own birth place," near here, in Washington county He will there be defeated nearly two to one, and solely because ot his failur0 to attend the funeral of his mother in 1S71, because it would have involved a recognition of her Catholic religion. She was buried without any funeral ceremony from the Catholic church' upar town. Washington County will give a majority against Blaine. This place, although Republican by 65 ma jority, will cive Cleveland a maioritv : ana tnis county, t ayette, will giye uievciaod from 1.600 to 2,000. The New York Tribune lays claim to Ohio by a large majority in ; October and a larcer one in November. The alleged grounds for its con Ode nee, says the TForW, are the return to the Repub lican party of the colored voters, nnmber ing 20,000, a good many of whom voted for Gov. Hoadly last year; the trans fer of 9.CO0 Democratic Irish-American votes from the Demcrats to the Repub licans ; the return of 5,0C0 wool-growers to"tho Republican ranks ; after the t;n:pcrr.ry ftCilisttca Trith ths Dciscc racy; the return also of the German vote in the absence of a temperance issue, and the; general ''fever of! en thusiasm" created among the Republi cans of the State by the stumping tours of Blaine and Lgan. . -! These are. as we have said, the allege ed grounds of the Tirbune's confidence. The real grounds are the subscription8 of Jay Gould, William H. Vanderbilt Russell Sage, C. iV Huntington, Mr. Aetor and pihefa, aggregating half a million of dollars, for speeiai use' in Ohio; the return of Minister" Morton, who is relied on, with his own sub scription of $100,000. tor another half million; the purchase of votes, coloni zation, frauds on the ballot-box and other Republican rascalities. I It would be singular if the Republi cans should not carry Ohio in October. For twenty-eight years Ohio has been a reliable Republican State in -every Presideutial year. Here is the vote:; 185G Republican maj , Oct...... 19,380 1856 Republican maj.. Nov. . . . . 16,623 I860 Republican maj., Oct. .... 12,903 1860 Republican maj , Nov...... 44,378 1864 Rapublican maj., Oct. . . . .54,751 1864 Republican maj.; Nov. . . . .59,586 1868 -Republican maj., Oct. -. . . 17.383 1868 Republican maj., Nov. ... -41,428 187-2 Republican maj., Oct.. .. 14, 150 1872 Republican maj., Nov- 37,531 1876 Republican maj , Oct 6,636 1876 Republican rnsj., Nov....- 7,516 1880 Republican maj., Oct-.... 19,005 1880 Republican maj., Nov. . . . .25,155 In "ofT-' years the Democrats have occasionally captured the State on loca1 issues, the Germans arid other liberal- minded voters having revolted against the intolerant and un-American policy of the Republicans in their prohibitory laws and constitutional amendments wherever tbey have power. . But; as the Tribune sa.js. there is no such issue now, and in Presidential years the Re publicans return in full force to the party of their choice. I Thus a Democratic victory in Ohio in the ele'etion which takes place" two weeks from to-day would le a, wonder which has not "been witnessed in twenty- eight years. A meagre Republican majority, such as was cast in 1876, in poor Hayes campaign, would be a virtual Republican defeat, inasmuch as the Prohibition ticket in November, with ex-Gov. St. John at its head, . wU draw off many thousands ot Republi can votes. j Yet it is evident that Blaine and the Republicans tremble about Ohio. . j ,4My daughter has taken the medicine faithfully, according to directions, and her health and spirits are now perfect.
