At a wish to have their contract embrace I a railroad to the Sound, which would, in their opinion, be the most profitable part of thescheme. Their success in this latter part of the en terprise, however, bids fair to find serious opposition, as there are par ties earnestly at work on an inde pendent scheme for a railroad to the Sound, who have secured a large amount of the funds necessary to complete the enterprise, many of our merchants, business men and others having subscribed liberally! to the project.
