About two hundred hands are at work. The grading has been cent pleted for two miles and is now at a point where it strikes what is known as the old Martin grade, con structed by Dr. Thos. B. Carr, near ly t enty years ago, which runs out of Castle street. About to miles of this grade will be utilized, which makes four miles of grading already completed. The road r jus along Tenth street and comes into Ann, from which it runs through the old Kidder brickyard property? where the first culvert iVnow being con structed by a force under . Mr. .Mc Keithau, who has charge of the gradiug. A few hundred yards be yond this point it comes into the Martin grade. This makes four mijes completed out of the entire nine, to be graded. The distance 'froln the W. & W. R. R. depot to the water at Wrightsville at Capt. Manning's place is nine miles and from the mainland to the .hammock it is about 5,000 yards -say one nn'le, wbich makes the entire .length of the road ten . miles.
