The April number of Cosmo jxilitan (published April 7th) will strongly sustain the standing of that bright young magazine for the time liness of its subjects and the crisp ness of its varied contents. The leading article is a delicate descrip' tion of Shakespeare's 'Mid-summer Night's Dream,' as produced at Daly's Theatre, copiously illustrat ed. Other timely articles are Mon cure D. Conway's "Reminiscences of Kaiser Wilhehn" (with illustra tions) and Lucy C. Lillie's article upon Louisa May Olcott. Among the promiueut contributors to this number will be found also Max O'Rell, John Burroughs, Ella Wheeler Wilcox, May Riley Smith. J. Breck Perkins, and E. P. The re mains were carried to his old home at Pittsboro, in Chatham county, for ( interment. .. Mr. Waddell left many friends and relatives in this city who will mourn his departure. He was the uncle of Hon. Alfred M. Waddell and had other near relatives here. He was born in Chatham countv, we think, but was essentially a Cape Fear man. He was a genial, knightly! gentleman, a thorough North Caro linian and an upright, honorable j loyal, patriot ic citizen. Peace to his ashes. May he sleep well. . Merit Wing.
