"In all frankness" it may be said that the "spirit" which dictated the remarks made in the Rrvikw rela tive to the Queen is probably be yond the comprehension of the Mes senger but evidently not beyond that of the manager of the boat, who has himself thought it safest and best to send her North to "freeze her out" before putting her on the Cane Fear. The same "spirit" which act uated the Kkvirw is shared,, en. dorsed and encouraged by a large majority of sensible people in this town who are here to stay and therefore naturally feel more inter est in. the welfare of the place than forenoon it got around to theSotith those who are here to-day and may west and a more genial condition of be gone to-morrow. the atmosphere will probably result. imui or air. w.j. The end has come at last and Mr. William John Yopp,-whose death has been hourly expected for nearly a weK, ten on fl) mominer. iust as the church bells! oav- j v-t? were pealing forth their summons to worship. He had been a very sick ,uan, for month.s Pa and for several "Ia BUl,cnuti8 intense. Mr. Yopp was 04 years of age in February last. He was a printer, having learned the trade in the Chronicle office, with the late Mr- Asa A. Brown. He afterwards be- came foremau of the Daily HerM, en published by.Mr. which was th Talcott Burr, Jr., and at one time, in conjunction with Mr. James T. But for nearly a cruar ter of a century past he has been an officer of th railroads here, first as Freight Agent of the W. & W. R. R and more recently of the combined offices of the W. & W. and W. C. & A. roads, in which positions it is needless to say that he was faithfu in every trust confided to him. He was a leading member of the order of Odd Fellows, of which he was a Past Grand Master, and was the third in seniority in Cape Fear Lodjre No. 2, of this city. He was also, for many years, a director o Oakdale Cemetery Company. He was an earnest, thorough Christian and had for many years past been a member of the Methodist commun ion. His kindly, genial, so cial qualities made for him many warm, true-hearted friends, who mourn most sincerely that he has gone from among them. The funeral will take place this afternoon, from Grace Church, in which he was a member of the Board of Trustees, and the interment wil be at Oakdale. The members of Cape Fear and Orion Lodsres will accompany the remains to their last resting place Young: Men's Christian Association.
