Mr. John D. Steljes, a member of Howard Relief Fire Engine Co., No. 1, met with a serious accident at the fire last night. He was on a ladder helping with the hose, when he was struck by a stream of water and knocked off, falling to the pavement in the alley. He was taken to Mr. W. F. Ortmann's saloon, on Second street, where Dr. Thomas was sum moned to attend him. We are glad to be able to state that there ate no fractures of any of the bones and it is hope! that he will be - all night again in a few days.. Excursion Rates. The railroads running into this city are making up their Summer excursion schedules now. The au thorities of the Carolina Central have put out excursion rates and tickets for all points on' their line and the roads of the Seaboard sys tem unda man can bay a ticket now from any point in the interior di rect to Wilmington, Wrichtsville, Carolina Beach, the Rocks " or South port. They expect a large ex cursion travel on their road this sea son and we do not think they will be disappointed.
