There is a great deal of talk about
the mysterious "white pasha' who
has recently appeared. A able

It is suircrested by some who have
never been convinced of the death
of General Gordon that that officer

still another, and perhaps more
plausible explanation of the exittt

Stanley has joined Emin Hey and
that together the explorers are

Further news of this mystical ier

Let' Hare That Rowing Club.
As we have already one of the
finest yacht clubs in the South and
as it has proved a success and been
the means of a great deal of enjoy,
meiit to young men and maidens,
old men and children, why not have
a rowing club and thus double their
pleasure? This is particularly de
sirable here as most of the yacht
races take place on the Sound, and a
good many of our citizens are de
barred from the pleasure of witness
ing them. We have a splendid stream
on which our young men can have
plenty of room and a good chance
of showing their pluck in rowing.
Some of the young men of our city,
feeling as we do about this matter,
have decided to organize a clubhand
u furtherance of. that object will
have a .meeting at. the office of
Messrs. Smith & Boatwright to-mbr-
. as mi
row at 7 o clocK p. m. xnis is
convenient hour for our young men
and we hope there will be a good
attendance: We have heard several
who will have boats ..built and we
understand that some of the wharf
rats" have one nearly finished and
others from other sections of the
ffty.will soon follow suit, and it be-:
tooves the uptown . tjpys to -show
them that their skill, muscle and
endurance are not to be despised.
Now, young men, turn out to this
meeting.
