There is a great deal of talk about the mysterious "white pasha' who has recently appeared. It is suircrested by some who have never been convinced of the death of General Gordon that that officer has escaped from Khartooin. and that the white pasha who is causing the Mahadi so much anxiety is he Others incline to the belief that Edmund O'Donovan, the famous war correspondent of the Loudon imiuu Acidy who is generallv sup- tKed to have perished with the HI- fated extHHlition of General Hicks, or that nossiblv some member or Paha Hicks force who has beeif kept in -confinement by the natives. and who has now escaped, is the new found pasha. still another, and perhaps more plausible explanation of the exittt ence'oi this white man, is that Stanley has joined Emin Hey and that together the explorers are forcing twir way westward. Further news of this mystical ier sonage is awaited with the greatest interest. Let' Hare That Rowing Club. As we have already one of the finest yacht clubs in the South and as it has proved a success and been the means of a great deal of enjoy, meiit to young men and maidens, old men and children, why not have a rowing club and thus double their pleasure? This is particularly de sirable here as most of the yacht races take place on the Sound, and a good many of our citizens are de barred from the pleasure of witness ing them. We have a splendid stream on which our young men can have plenty of room and a good chance of showing their pluck in rowing. Some of the young men of our city, feeling as we do about this matter, have decided to organize a clubhand u furtherance of. that object will have a .meeting at. the office of Messrs.
