All who have intercourse with him speak of the courtesywith which all who have business -to transact with him are received: Twenty-four trains were run be tween the city and the Hummocks yesterday. It was found necessary last night to send out an extra train to brincr back those who waited until a late hour to enjoy the .beau tiful moonlight and the salubrious breezes. A movement is on foot looking to a visit from the fire companies of this city, in full uniform, to the boys in camp at Wrights ville. Wilson Mrror: As will be seen from our extended notice on edi torial page Col. Wad dell, of Wil mington, delivered . two charming lectures in Wilson last week; Every body was thoroughly charmed with him, for he is a gentleman of fine intelligence and varied information. He is well read and thoroughly posted on all the living issues of the day; is sound as a dollar oh all the leading questions; is true to his convictions as the needle, to the pole; is as firm as the . rock bound coast, against which the waves of old ocean dash in maddened fury and yet perish in harmless spray at its unhurt base these are some of the virtues which adorn the spotless character of this admirable gentle man, and make his reputation for honor and integrity as pure and as stainless as the glittering dew drops which sparkle amid the flowers of morn. It was detached at Mt Holly, where the Cardinal and party proceeded in carriages to St. Mary's College. His Eminence was highly pleased and touched by the honor and exceeding kindness shown; him while at Wilmington. Both Catholics and non-Catholics combined to show how highly they honored their eminent visitor; 'Al though this visit of the Cardinal was oue of a purely religious' character, yet it was made the occasion of great rejoicing in the whole city. This" can be seen from, the royal re ception accorded on his arrival, as also from the many public recep tions held in his honor. He. will return to Charlotte this evening, and a reception will be held in his honor at the residence of Dr. O'Donogbue from 8 to 10 p. in., where all who wish to pay him their respects are cordially invited. A- recollection of the troublous days of 1862 is recalled. Very near the Encampment, in fact just across the pike, right at the entrance of Mrs. Wm. A. Wright's place, MaJ. John W- Cameron, Chief Quarter master of the Department of North Carolina, established a camp during the late Summer of 1862, when the yellow, fever prevailed in Wilming ton. The late Capt; C. W. Styron was A. Q. M. with Maj. Cameron and the late Capt. I. B. ; Grainger, afterwards an A. Q. M. also, was then Chief Clerk in Capt. Styron's office; " There were a dozen or more of us in camp. The fever was raging violently in Wilmington and we would come up to tne town every morning and go down to camp every afternoon, sleeping and taking breakfast and supper in camp. We all witnessed many scenes of misery here during our daily visits to town but it is not our purpose to speak here of these. On that day there was a big excitement all along the coast. One Sunday we saw the Princess., a beautiful yacht owned by Miss Amoret Bradley afterwards Mrs. Cameron), which was one of the largest and swiftest boats at Wrightsville in ante bellum daysj manned by a party of refugee slaves, sail out of the Sound, and through Masonboro Inlet, and then direct its course towards one of.the blockading sduadron. which was cruising in the offing, about two miles distant. Through our glasses we sa w the steamer slow up, then stop and receive the runaways on board af d fimUly hook the yacht to its davits, haul it up and then sail away. Tins was tne last seen 01 tne beautiful Princes the pride and de light of the Summer sailors at Wrightsville and her after fate has 1 always remained a mystery to us. . : l Decoration.
