Following is the full text of the famous letter written by Senator John J. Ingalls (Judge Advocate of the Kansas militia while in the late war) during the recent Republican Convention at Chicago. It was ad dressed to a member of the Kansas delegation, and is destined to play almost as distinguished a part in this campaign as Bro. Burchard's famous alliterative allegation('Ituni, Romanism and Rebellion'") did in 1884: Vice-President's Chamber, ) AVASHINGTON, June 16.) Yours 13th at hand. It does not make much difference who is nomi nated in my judgment. The candi dates will cut but a small figure in the fight. We can elect anybody or ,.t ii f. ;i mi! l j. 1 we kiiuii lan. x tie tease conspicu ous, and therefore the least compli cated man, will be the best. Some body like Hayes in 1876. Among the men named there is not one "leader." No one whose personal or historical relations to the people would make a difference oi 1,000 votes in the canvass. Sher man, Allison, Harrison, etc., have records that would be awkward on the tariff, the currency, the" Chinese question, etc. Depevv's connection with railroads and corporations would be a heavy load, especially in the agricultural States. We "might as well nominate Gould or Vander bilt at once. My impression is that Alger or Gresham come nearer fill ing the bill than any of the others, with some fellow like Phelps, of New. Jersey, who could reach the conservative forces of the East and get contributions from Wall street and the manufacturers. But you can judge much better than I what is best after consulting with the del egates. : i I have the use of the wires during the convention, by the courtesy of the company, and you can there fore telegraph me fully at all times, if anything of interest transpires. J. J. Ingajlls. Their BnsineHs Boomtnir Probably no one thing has caused such a general revival of trade at VV H. Greeo & Co'a. While opening them yesterday, some customer re marked: "This Is enterprise. " f The Chicago Tribune, tie leading Republican paper' of tie North western States, cautiohedj the con vention "Sunday morning! previous to the nomination of Mr. Harrison on Monday against the nlhiination of that gentleman becatu of his connection with railroads; uonopo" lists and lobbyists; and ai cng other reasons made the followir (arraign ment of the convention! 'showing clearly who coutrollei it. The fol lowing great syndicates asm ven by the Tribune were directly iepresent ed on the floor of the convention and finallv decided its resdt: 1. Jay Gould and th Wabash ring. represented by Ge; kal G. M. Dodge and other skilful I bvists. 2. The Central Pacific Stanford Crocker-1 1 untington ringJvithCreed Hammond at the head ofthe Cali fornia delegation aiid its represen tatives. 3. The Union Pacific Crjdit Mo bilier crowd, represented y it at torney Thurston, who wnshenored with the temporary chairmanship of the convention in recognition of the power of his principles. 4. The great Vauderbiit rAilroua syndicate, with Chauncey M. Depew as its representative and Thoiiias C. Piatt and Woo.d Pulp Miller Ta his assistants. v " 5. The Wisconsin Railroad combi nation, with Senator John C Snoon- er controlling the Wisconsin delega tion in its interest. 6. The Northern Pacific Railroad ring, representeu oy a strong Doay of lobbyists and wire-pullers, and fighting against the forfeiture of 40,- 000,000 acres of land. Such is the combination of great railroad corporations that worKed harmoniously together to give the Republican nartv a candidate for t & . the Presidency. It .has been esti mated by the Chicagd Tribune that this combination represented a cap ital of upward of a thousand mil lion of dollars. Vith such an enor mous weight thrown into the scale, the candidates to whom the rail road corporations were nostiie or indifferent kicked the beam one af ter the other. The Tribune has been constrained by the spirit of party to give its support' to a ticket nomi nated under such auspices. But the facts it has educed and the reasons which it has given forvoting against he Republican candidate cannot fail to exert a powerful influence over the independent voters of Illi no's and other portionsof the North west.
