The United t)einocratic Olub of
Wilmington is the title of the organ
ization perfected by a number of
Democratic voters in this city on
Tuesday nlght,at the City Hall , with
Capt. W. P. Oldham as President,
Mr. J. H. Currie as Vice President,
and Mr. N. Jenkins as Secretary.
The Constitution, which was adopt
ed at the meeting, is as follows:
ARTICLE I.
Sec! . This Club shall be called
the United Democratic Clnb of the
City of Wilmington. I
Sec. 2. This Club shall DerneiuateJ
ocrats to secure vacant positions
whenever practicable and in the dis
tribution of political offices within
the party, to the end that all good
white Democrats may be rewarded
for party services.;
ARTICLE II.
Sec. 1. All white. males 21 years of
age and upwards, who pledge them
selves to vote the .Democratic ticket,
are eligible to membership in this
Club, after signing this Constitu
tion. Sec. 2. All members shall be elect;
ed by ballot by a majority vote of
the members present at any regular
meeting.
Sec. 3. The pledge of membershin
shall be as follows: tlI, , do
hereby pledge myself to support the
Constitution, By-Laws and Rules pf
Order of this Club, the National and
State platforms of the Democratic
party, to vote the straight Demo--,
cratic ticket, support the nominees
of the party and to perform all of
the duties imposed upon me by this
