Alderman Fishblate submitted a
resolution relative to the city sub

& E. C. Railroad that the bonds be
called in ana cancelled, unless work
on the road is resumed in good faith,
within four months.
Alderman Fishblate spoke in favos
of the resolution and moved itr
adoption, and Alderman King sec
onded the motion.
Alderman Pearsall moved to amend
by striking out the words "four
months," but agreed to an amend
ment changing the time to two
months.
Alderman Ricaud spoke against
the amendment. He understood,
from good authority, that the road
had been sold to responsible parties
who had abundant capital and who
intended to build it; but, he argued,
if was unreasonable to require them
to prepare their plans and go to
work within sixty days. He thought
that at least ninety days should be
allowed.
After further debate the amend
ment offered by Aldefman Pearsall
was rejected, and the resolution as
submitted by Alderman Fishblate
was adopted.
Alderman Fishblate read a com
munication from the President of
the Water Works Company, in which
it was stated that if seven addi
tional fire hydrants are authorized
in that section of the city East of
Fourth street, so that hydrants shall
not be more than 400 feet apart, the 1
companv would put in larger mains, ;

"For Richer, For Poorer."
At 8.15 this morning St. Paul's
Evangelical Lutheran Church was
crowded from end to end, and even
the side pews and gallery were oc
cbpied, to witness the nuptials of Mr.
Carl W. Polvogt and Miss M. Au
gusta Lessman.
The altai and front part of the
pulpit were graced by handsome
flowers and choice plants that had
been arranged tastefully and skill
fully by some of the ladies of the
church. Mr. E. P. Boatwright pre
sided at the organ, and promptly at
the assigned time the young couple
moved up the centre aisle of the
church to the altar, preceded by
Messrs. Aug. Zoeller, Robert Katz,
F. A. Bissinger and Louis Turner.
Then came the groom and Mr. J. H.
Rehder.
The Misses Lizzie Ulrich and Elsie
Bissinger accompanied and conduct
ed the beautiful bride to the altar,
where the groom stood prepared to
meet her. Rev. F. W. E. Peschau,
according to the short and scriptural
liturgy of the Lutheran Church,
then pronounced them husband and
wife in the name of theHoly Trinity.
The bride was dressed in a beauti
ful blue silk dress and, always a
handsome young lady, never looked
sJweeter and more attractive than
to-day. The groom wore a costly
PrjnceAlbert coat and suit to match,
and with his handsome, blooming,
blushing bride presented 'anjunusu
ally fine appearance. Both received
many kind compliments. At the
conclusion of the marriage and after
the benediction, Rev. Mr. Peschau
asked permission to detain then
just a few minutes, and read and
then presented to them some resolu
tions of regard adopted by the
Church Council, that were very
complimentary to the young couple
and contained also the congratula
tions of the Council, on their happy
union.
Accompanied by quite a large j
number of friends the happy young
couple proceeded to the Weldon j
depot, to leave for New York City, j
where they will spend a few weeks ;
among friends.
