It will drop its present j title, and assume the name of the I "American Church.' Its general convention will oecoiue a general synod, ami will meet once in ten years instead of triennial ly. For the purposes of legislation the whole Church will be divided up into a number of provinces, each with an Archbishop and with a provincial ,1 synod which will meet annually. The Archbishop of New York will be he Primate, holding the same rela tion to the Church as the Arch bishop of Canterbury holds to the Anglican Church. In fact, the An glioan theory of church government will be closely copied. Cathedrals will spring up, having deans, sub deans, canons, and prebendaries; and Archdeacons will be placed in charge of diocesan districts to act as "the eye of the Bishop.' Even to day Bishop Potter is practically the Primate of the Episcopal Church, and by virtue of his personal char acter and official position wields an all powerful influence throughout the Church. And when New York erects its splendid cathedral, the influence of the metropolitan Bishop will be tremendously increased. The unveiling of the monument which is to be erected at" IndianapN olis, and which has been purchased by the voluntary contributions of admirers throughout the country of Indiana's distinguished statesman, the Hon. Thomas A. Hendricks, will take place in the autumn, probably some time in October. The Hon. A. (x. Thurman, of Ohio, who was the close political arid personal friend of Mr. Hendricks, will deliver the ora tion, and as it will be a labor of love it will doubtless be worthy of him self and his subject. The erection of the monument will be begun ear ly in July, and it will stand on the State House grounds. The monu ment will consist of a statue of Mr. Hendricks, fourteen feet high, in bronze, cast in one piece at the royal foundry in Rome, the pedestal of red tinted-granite, taken from the Ba voni quarries on .Lake Como, Italy, and the figure of History in a sitting posture, of course, set within the pedestal in front, anil perhaps the additional figure of Justice on the opposite side of the pedestal. All the work on the pedestal has also been done on the other side of the water, and the blocks will be ship ped ready for erection. The figure of History will likewise be in bronze and eight feet high. The Iudianap olis Sentinel savs: 'The monument as a work of art unsur npt surpassing, any work of the kind on the continent. :t will be impressive iu size, beauti ful in structure and artistic iu w.rk" nmnship.
